No OCing or anything funny before all this started happening. I went ahead and reset the BIOS to default... was able to get into safe mode. Funny thing is, I tried this before and it didn't work... ah well, live and learn. I went in and uninstalled my video driver, then reinstalled it. Same...

PC3200 in K7S5A

Will putting PC3200 RAM in my ECS K7S5A work? I'm considering doing this because prices are pretty much the same and it'll help future-proof my memory in case I decide to upgrade the motherboard down the road.

Dumb question about fans

Thanks for the explanation. My fan is pretty much in the middle (mid-tower), but I guess it's high enough to be calling it an exhaust fan. What I'm not sure of is if the fan is on the right side to be an exhaust fan. How do I find out?

I thought you had to activate XP Home but the Professional version was exempt... but here it is, telling me I have 29 days left for activation. Is it because I bought this at student pricing? Or am I just behind on the times and MS has required us to activate XP Pro regardless?

I got it to work, apparently XP setup doesn't like USB devices plugged in. But anyway, I have another problem. It isn't detecting the disk I have for my SATA RAID... it keeps saying "install manufacturer's hardware suppport disk" or whatever. It's starting to get aggravating. Everything...

The power supply is a new 480-watter. Temperatures are around 43 C for the CPU, but I've heard of some issues with MSI's motherboard monitors, the true temperature might be a little lower than that. I haven't run memtest yet, and I really have no way of getting it onto my computer either...

okay well basically i tried to download Ground Control since they're offering it for free on fileplanet. In the middle of the download my computer froze though so I had to reboot. And since I'm an idiot, I renamed the cache file that fileplanet gives from "groundcontrol_gsi.exe.FilePlanetCache"...

how often do you clean the inside of your case?

Just opened up my case for the first time in like 2 years and cleaned out my heatsink/fan with some Q-tips and lung power. There was quite a bit stuck in the heatsink fins and the fan and a few dust balls on the bottom of the case but overall it wasnt as bad as I expected.

I'm not sure what you mean by FD_Table[1].fd should be *(FD_Table + 20) The best I can think is you're not initializing your elements before accessing them, that'd explain the garbage. Also you cannot access FD_Table without first referring to a specific member inside the struct. You can't...

I second that. Or if Perl looks too intimidatiing, you can always try Python. Here's a good beginner article on Python CGI programming here. The beginner tuts on python.org are excellent, as is the documentation. No problemo, mano.

I'm not sure but if you do something like this: int *foo = f1(); Then free 'foo' accordingly then you should be OK. This is just a guess though. I'm still a bit vague about memory allocation myself.

MOHAA Breakthrough...

Yeah I have it and it's pretty awesome. I think the ammo being light is actually a part of the level design - it was a very nice challenge having to ration your shots! I remeber finishing that bridge level with only a couple of shots left in my .45! Fun stuff...
