so what system are FF1-6 running on? I think I got it that FF7 runs on the PS/PS2 and the later versions too..
also can anyone tell me some good RPGs for the Dreamcast? I recently got one and the only decent RPG I have is shenmue (shenmue2 I think...)
many thanks for the reply!
I'm glad to hear that gigabyte ati cards are good, but what interests me the most is whether the tv-out chip is the same as in ati cards (the rage theater I think it's called). thing is that I want to use the pc for watching dvd-s on a TV and I heard that ati's cards...
about the Iwill I haven't seen any Iwill boards around here - I'm not in the US.
as for a kt266 chipset mobo.. I don't know about via, haven't really used them. how are they stability wise? are there many hassles to go through to bring a via system on par with intel stability? no one mentioned...
So what's a cool cheap mobo for the duron? That ecs k7s5a or what-was-its-name with the sis735 chipset still a good mobo? I don't want to spend mucho dinero on a new box, and my old celeron533/bx is becoming quite outdated so I thought going with a duron now and maybe further down the road...
<< Im telling you it is not the Vanta! I have a vanta at work and the thing works great! I would have believed that the Intel 815 int video is the culprit, but not an external vid card! >>
cool, can you try setting your windows to 1280x1024@32bit/85Hz (dunno if the Hz makes any difference)...
it already got service pack 2. udma enabled.
I still think it's the Vanta. I played with lower resolution/colordepth settings and found out that it performs much better in those compared to my current res. 1280x1024@32bit..
anyone know whether the Vanta is a 64bit bus? and can the video card...
<<
you can overclock the proc but cant install intel app accelerator?
it makes a huge difference IMO and great increases performance of the IDE subsystem
though my Northwood @ 2.4 ghz was never slow to begin with :) >>
it was already overclocked :)
thanks for the input!
UDMA is on for the HDD, no conflicts, installing intel app. accel. is hardly an option, I just wanted to get to the root of the problem and I think I figured it out.. my guess is the Vanta, as many already have mentioned. I tried 1024x768@32bit and large windows (with...
thanks for the reply :)
so what are good, stable MS approved drivers for the vanta? are they the same as those for TNT2?
i'll check on the UDMA setting but i doubt it's that.. the thing with the scrolling is mostly in IE 5.0 and Outlook Express 5.0
hey, thanks for the replys so far :)
it's not a clean install, and i think there are plenty of services running.. dunno exactly.
so if it's the video card, will a gf2mx200 make any difference? for now i don't think that changing hardware is really an option but maybe when my trial period is...
hi, i got a new job a couple of weeks ago and my pc there is a p3-933 overclocked to 1GHz, i815 mobo, 512MB of ram and an nvidia vanta 16MB. the thing runs Windows 2000 Pro and sounds like a nice setup but it feels slower than the celeron533(mendocino), BX, 288MB ram and tnt2pro 32MB. like when...
Why buy one PC for that kind of money when you can get two kick-ass systems? Here are my picks :)
Dell Dimension 8200
Dimension® 8200, Pentium® 4 Processor at 2.0GHz
1GB PC800 RDRAM
Dell® Enhanced Performance USB Keyboard
19 in (19.0 in viewable) 1900FP Digital Flat Panel Display
64MB DDR...
i don't think it's the monitor since with my previous card (savage3d) it looked alright. also i'm not sure it's a opengl problem now that you mentionned alice i recall playing it and it didn't seem dark. as for powerstrip - i am aware of this possibility but don't like it. i was hoping that it...
<< I find that alot of Nvidia cards give dark displays. You have to crank up the gamma corrections in your games and the brightness on your monitor and it should help. >>
the monitor brightness/contrast is cranked up to the max.
but quake is kinda peculiar.. the gamma control only makes...
hey i was asking WHATif about the g4. he didn't mention playing games, he said he wanted a laptop for travelling, graphics and 3d. i think that the g4 fits nicely.. as for overpriced, i don't know.. at least i don't think they're overpriced. for the money you are gonna spend on a high-end dell...
if you are looking for a graphic/3d laptop why are you completely disregarding the apple g4 titanium? for the money you are willing to spend on a high-end desktop replacement laptop from dell you could get a g4 with dvd/cd-rw drive perhaps and mucho ram. photoshop for images, maya for osx for...
well, mine is not the same model, it's a quantum fireball cr 8.4 (quite old in fact) and it always has had this whining jet-engine-like sound. it has been running ok for the last 3 years. but if the others who have the exact same hdd say it must be slient then something might be wrong :)
rand...
hi, i have been having this problem for a long time now but have just decided to try and fix it.
basically games are too dark with my tnt2 in win2k (have not tried in win98), particularly quake 3. when i first got the video card, i tried several driver verisons but all had the same problem. has...
<< Just be forewarned, the results might not be as great as you think. First you have to have a solid, high-quality DIVX file. If you're downloading them off the Internet you'll invariably end up with a lot of poorly encoded DIVX files with a lot of screen noise and audio getting out of sync...
you're all (with a few exceptions) short-sighted pc gaming zealots. i bet you never worked on a mac and in spite of that you are oh-so conviced that they're slow, hot-running kitchen appliances. and always complaining about how your games would run. sheesh
I recently got a samsung set-top (or whatever) dvd player and the manual says it plays also mp3, videocd etc. I'm interested in the videocd thingie.. Can I burn videocds on my cd-rw from .avi files? I have tried to directly select videocd in Nero and pull an avi file in to the burn window but it...
<< Yeah the P4 is really expensive, look at the difference in cost of the systems, its around $1000. >>
foo, the p4 system includes GF3 Ti500, a DVD-RW and a 80gigger.. whatever
