FF is normal,the agp driver to use in on the cd. The bad one is the one in the via 4 in 1 drivers.
You disable onboard sound in the bios.

No idea the 365 model enermax seem to be ok at 1.4ghz. but might give touble over 1.5ghz. Depends on how many fans,hard drives,video card type & other cards you use. Its one of those individual results may vary things.
Hmm..maybe something with the driver and the os then.
Guess I will just use my promise card until they come out with newer drivers or I change operating systems.

Nope both dives are using dma, boxes checked.
Even tried the via bustmaster drivers on via's site instead of the ones on the cd that came with the board no change.
Also verified that the via bustmaster driver was listed in use for the ide controller's.

The motherboard monitor program or motherboard probe program are good.
They support most chips but not all.

Yes. If its the small square kind they suggest using a ic puller
but you can probably do it with a small screwdriver since you wont be reusing it anyway.
If its the long rectangle shape type they are easy with a small screwdriver.
I looked at the gigabyte web site and it seems they do not have any built in bios recovery other than the dual bios :(

See if your floppy drive light comes on when you power up.
Some boards let you recover the bios from a floppy if it is.
