  2. Night Crew Report in....

What the fuck, I open up ATOT for the first time in an occassion, and a thread I posted 19 years ago is on top...
  3. Wassup, fools.

Very true. It's more by comparison -- I didn't feel that London was super dirty, it's more that my first overseas trip was to Singapore, which left me feeling the US was kind of a shithole, and then London made me realize that I may have been visiting an outlier the first time.
  4. Wassup, fools.

Nice. I moved from the southwest to the PNW (with some stops along the way). Loving it up here. Good luck with the album.
  5. Wassup, fools.

Yellowstone is beautiful. My only 'Europe' reference is London, which was a lot of fun, but left me feeling that US cities weren't so dirty after all...
  6. Wassup, fools.

Nice. Yeah, It turns ut that ten post-millenium years = 3 weeks pre millenium. yeaux. Nice, nice. Favorite place you've traveled?
  7. Wassup, fools.

20 cats? Fortunately only two cats ago for me.
  8. Wassup, fools.

Thought I'd check in on you clowns. It seems it's been eleven years since I've been meaningfully active here. In that time I've: - Moved four times, including across state lines. - Got my PhD. - Came out and entered a long term relationship. - Changed jobs twice. The 'highlight' of my day...
  9. What "old person" candy will your generation be giving to their grandchildren?

This thread made me buy a package of peach rings at the grocery store. Good job, I guess.
  10. RIP dennilfloss

Holy Jesus. I was just telling some of my friends about Dennil and I came back to ATOT for the first time in *years* because I googled the Dennilfloss story. And I saw this. Jesus. I hope you're pulling another hoax Dennil, because you were an okay guy.
  11. Planned human settlement of Mars by 2023?!

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_Dragon_%28spacecraft%29
  12. Why aren't we exploring Venus?

Actually, no, it would be virtually impossible to start a fire to cook dinner on Venus -- there's no oxygen in the atmosphere. Of course, by the time you give up, dinner's done anyway...and so are you.
  13. todays incredible tv product idea

Doesn't every movie theater in America have one?
  14. watch live launch of SpaceX falcon rocket @ 3:44 eastern

For low earth orbit? Be happy! It frees them up to go somewhere NEW -- something they haven't done since 1972.
  15. OMG why did they end firefly?

I watched about half of season 1 of SG:U, before I bailed. I had the same realization as you: I decided that I wanted everyone except the fat kid to die horribly and that I didn't like watching the show for that reason. I hear it got better later on, but I was checked out at that point. And...
  16. OMG why did they end firefly?

Madness. SG-1 lived way too long. A new SG series? Sure, so long as it isn't SG:U all over again. SG-1's charm was in its refusal to be excessively dark. DS-9? No way. That series ended perfectly. Firefly? Hell yeah! I'd love to see more firefly. Basically, we just need another good Sci-Fi...
  17. What is calculus used for in the real world?

If you think a university is wasting your time teaching you calculus, then you're wasting their time by attending a four year institution. It may be hard, you may suck at it, and you may not use it in your career, but it is important to know if you want to be a well rounded intelligent person.
  18. White House Christmas Tree Dies

Oh, it's Oligarh. My favorite Klingon dish! Goes well with Gagh and Blood Wine. (I had to look up the spelling of Gagh, which I though was "Gok")
  19. Hypothetical history: North America without Europe

Quite probably. While it's questionable as to whether the US's direct military intervention would have made a difference, there is no reasonable doubt that US manufacturing and raw materials made a big difference for the allies throughout the war. Re: the OP....500 years wouldn't have made a...
  20. DEA arrests a guy then leaves him in a holding cell for 5 days without food or water

We could you know, stop wasting taxpayer money on these chucklefucks, and call the $20M a "lesson learned"
  21. People who watch tv online.... your days are coming to an end

I don't see how Torrents will be affected.
  22. Oh baby, God is good!!!

As an atheist who likes harbor freight, I don't know what to think....praise smooze?
  23. Oh No Ate a Bag of Expired Popcorn.

All we can do now is hope that your death is swift and painless. You may want to consult a doctor about ending your suffering sooner, just in case the pain becomes prolonged.
  24. Never Bring a Gun

I'd imagine she'd get plenty of practice in a convenience store. Actually, A dart board with an axe in it would be a pretty good thief deterrent, IMO.
  25. ATOT Night Crew Thread

Wow, just like the good old days. Glad to see you guys are keeping the traditions strong. Spy gear forever.
  26. I'm responsible for Stephen Colbert's shout-out to bronies last night

And apparently, you're dead inside. Who's the winner here?
  27. I'm responsible for Stephen Colbert's shout-out to bronies last night

Threads like this remind me why I stopped hanging out here so much. I can't pinpoint the moment, but this place became a judgemental echo chamber of hate a long time ago. Rock on, Daverino.
  28. YAStarTrekT: What's the point of having the transporter room/pad?

Because ST refuses, as a franchise to investigate the moral / practical implications of any technology that is not immediately and directly pertinent to the central plot of that particular episode.
  29. who here has seen pyramids in real life?

You do realize that whole part about the Jews and the pyramids never happened, right? I'm pretty sure it (the part about the jews specifically being the pyramid builders) is not even in the bible.
  30. Why is it called "Life Insurance"?

Just because the death rate from all causes, for all time, in the the past has always added up to 100%, doesn't mean that your insurer isn't willing to play the odds. In the long game, one of their salesmen will sell a policy to the highlander.
  31. Office prank: Fake ringtoning

Bonus points: use the iphone message sound at a meeting for multiple hits.
  32. Space Train

Novel, active launch systems are not a new idea. Prepare to go down the rabbit hole. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Launch_loop http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mass_driver http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skyhook_%28structure%29 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Space_fountain More Generally...
  33. How do people eat so much?

Nothing to do with the laws of thermodynamics. The number of calories you consume puts a ceiling on the number of calories that you absorb. The efficiency of absorbing calories from food also varies from person to person (and intestine to intestine). Similarly, the rate at which people burn...
  34. lol at christwire.org

Now aren't you glad we didn't give him the key to the lifer washroom?
  35. Drinking beer from 2004.

No. You would be doing yourself and your house a service by pouring it down the drain. Just like urine and motor oil.
  36. Any Amiga fans/users here?

I have an amiga (500, I think) that someone gutted and screwed into some corkboard. IDK if they did it as a teaching tool or as art, but either way, it's damn cool. I found it for $2 at a thrift store a couple of years ago.
  37. need help with a prank

Okay, the *ultimate* troll would be to cut several thematically similar movies together (while dropping key scenes), so that they would get to the end of two hours and have watched a movie with no climax, cohesive plot, or conclusion. Then, end it with fake closing credits giving yourself most...
  38. floppy disk error

Or go ask your question in more detail in one of the technical forums?
  39. Planning a BP in Vegas, anybody have experience planning one?

At first I thought he wanted to open a gas station (British Petroleum) in Vegas, and came in here to find out why the hell he was asking us.
  40. atheists

Many atheists simply say "I don't know", but haven't been convinced of anything yet. Are you going to tell me that's a metaphysical belief structure, and therefore a kind of religion? And so help me god, if you say "that's agnosticism", I'll hit you. I'm not going to have that argument again.
