    If you're really in for the long term, the GF3 would be worth the extra $50. The GF4MX line of cards sound like overclocked Geforce2 Ultra cards, it doesn't even support all the DX8 features in hardware like the GF3.

    Get a DDS4 tape drive. Initial costs are kinda high, moreso if you don't already have a SCSI controller, but hey you can't beat 20 GB (native!) tapes for $15! The tape media is pretty damn reliable too from what I hear and even those cheap $500 Sony units comes with a 3 year warranty.

    I say go with the ECS K7S5A motherboard instead of the Abit. It's probably 1/3 the cost of the RAID board and uses a solid SiS chipset which is not too far behind the KT266a in terms of performance. The built-in audio is no Audigy but at least you could use the $aving$ towards a Geforce3 Ti200...
