Gigabyte P55A Rev1 & Rev2 Differences

Noticed a lot of the Gigabyte P55A series boards have bumped the PCB design to Rev 2. For the foggy can't seem to find anything that explains what changes they made. Anyone know?

You can go higher. You'll just need a video card that can output as a dual-link port which most mid-range cards purchased today can.

DEAD - USB TV Tuner - $14.99 shipped @ the egg !

Just an FYI on the antenna. The base of the unit is magnetic so you can stick it on certain metal surfaces. The antenna itself also pulls out. Looks like a short unit but just pull on the top and it'll expand. Probably a duh thing but I haven't RTFM yet. :)

A friend and I got one. Don't think you'll find an ATSC tuner for this cheap anytime soon. Maybe in 2009 when SD/NTSC broadcasts go dark. :3

Hey can anyone identify the port above the USB one? d430rear.jpg My closest guess would be a miniature serial port as Dell says this model has one but I've never seen this miniturized one specification if this is the case.

Anyone know of video cards that can support 2x dual link DVI ports? Most cards I know can do 1x DVI Dual link and 1x DVI Single Link (aka 3 TDMS links). On the ATI side of things know you can find 4 TDMS DVI link cards starting with the 1650XT. Was curious if anyone knows starting from...

1333 Motherboard +CPU Ram Question

Assuming you're just going to be using 1333 and nothing much higher, Two 667 sticks will be fine and get you 1:1. 667x2 = 1334

US Customs... Federal Laws vs. State Laws

I recently ordered something that may be considered unlawful to possess under California law. I was curious if customs decide to inspect it, if it would be subject to seizure. The item is legal under federal law, but may not be under California state law. Anyone know?

Sempron 2800 CPU - $30 at Fry's

Thought I'd give an update on my purchase: CPU Info SSE3 and x86-64 enabled. Purchased 3 and they were labled as non-x86-64 chips but looks like Fry's didn't change the PLUs when the new batches came in or something. Happy with my purchase. :) Now to find two more S754 boards. :)...

One way to have them look up the item is to just give them the PLU, don't bother telling them what you want as if they find out they can't make much of a commission on it, they won't bother.

Ones the Sunnyvale Fry's are selling are the BA product codes ones. Supposedly relabled 90nm SOI 256K L2 mobile Athlon 64 parts w/x86-64 disabled though been earing reports that some have x86-64 enabled as well as SSE3/HT. These guys should overclock alright.

just a standard aluminum heatsink off a video card. Junking the vid card but using the heatsink for a project I have and need to find some way to remove the dried gunk.

ATI HDTV Wonder Install Disc

Hey anyone have the original HDTV Wonder driver/software disc? The udpated drivers on ATi's site asks for them and I can't seem to find my driver disc at the moment. Wondering if someone that has it can extract the DTV portion of it and e-mail, AIM send, FTP, etc. to me. Thanks a bunch...

Thermal Runaway prevention

Lumileds' Luxeon V series run at 7V/700mA. They're roughly 100 times brigher than your standard 5mm LED supposedly. They're backed my a thin aluminum heatsink but it's recommended that you epoxy another one on for extra cooling if you run them at full power.

Ah thanks for the reply. Think the semiconductor tidbit answered my question. You said that I'll be throwing roughly 0.5w into each resistor. Thought it would be around 4.8? Given that the LEDs want 6.84v so... 6.84 * .7 = 4.788 [voltage x amps = watts] Wouldn't I be throwing closer...

BURNING HOT - Quake 4 - $38

Compared to Doom 3, though this Single Player mode was MUCH more enjoyable. My 1st fear was that it would be another "flashlight game" with a cheap scare around every corner. Totally different. Game pretty much picks off where Quake 2 left off. :)

network card built in vs expansion

In most cases a built-in one is better. Some of the better boards have built in ones that aren't linked to the PCI bus but rather to the Northbridge or Southbridge directly freeing up bandwidth for other PCI devices.
