Need help with old Win98 machine

Hello, I'm having some problems with my cousin's system. It's a POS Celeron 400 on a generic AT mobo with onboard sound and video, a 6GB Samsung HD, 96MB PC100 SD-RAM, 36x CD-ROM and a floppy drive. Anyway, he said he was playing games, when the system hanged. He restarted and got this error...

Win98SE Networking Problem

Hello Everybody, I'm trying to network my Win2000 machine with my sister's Win98SE machine. On her machine, I enabled File and Printer Sharing, restarted, but yet I don't see a sharing tab when righ-clicking on a folder/drive. Any ideas what's wrong? Thanks

PSU Burned out, what about everything else?

Well, the HD is still working, and I can test the CD-ROM. If both are working, is it safe to say that there was no overload?

But the MSI D-LED shows that the CPU is damaged... What I really want to know is whether the PSU killed my hardware or not. I mean, when it burns out, does it take EVERYTHING with it, stuff connected to the mobo only, or what? As I said, the HD is ok, so no problems with that. I don't know...

I don't think I will go with SMP. After all, there aren't that many motherboards that support dual proccessors, and the overall cost would be high.

Getting hard drives error after BIOS flash...

Before I installed the 60GB HDD, the old hard drive was set to master. I installed the 60GB as slave, then removed it. I didn't mess with the hard drive's jumper. It's always on master. I need a lot of help on this one...

How to apply Arctic Silver II to a copper shim?

Well, put some AS2 to the bottom of your COPPER shim, and you can kiss your CPU good bye! Hehehe... Anyway, don't put AS2 anywhere other than the core. Check out Arctic Silver's web site for instructions.

Try to use your old grease, even if it was the white stuff. See, when you power your computer for the first time, some of the thermal compound fills the microscopic ridges in your heatsink and CPU. If you keep changing thermal compounds (white stuff -> AS2 - > Alumina -> etc...), you might not...

Ever use Atric Silver on your memory?

As ChefJoe said, it might be very dangerous to use AS2. Instead, use Arctic Aluminum. It should work great.

HSF for XP1700, Under $30, from Newegg, which one?

Get him the Dr. Thermal TI-V77L. It costs 22$, uses a 70mm quiet fan and has a great clip. That's whay I am getting for my friend's new system.

what is a good fan to replace the screamer on my sk-6?
