Not 100% sure on your question. If by external ATSC decoder you mean a card with hardware encoder they are better than software encoders as they don't strain your cpu.
MythTV is the best PVR bar none if you ask me and here is a list of supported cards...
I was going to do that and probably will, but it has become a challenge now. I think I just found some help - I could do slax but still want to do fedora with bartspe

Forgot to add these are the instructions I found for windows using BartPE (I haven't done this yet)

Has anyone done this and is it dual bootable from a Flash Drive?
I have Fedora core on my Flash drive, but does anyone know if you can and how to dual boot with windows? I need windows for work so I need to or I will lose my Fedora.
Here are the instructions for Fedora on a Stick.

any input is welcomed.
Hz = frequency in times per second, so fps directly relates to Hz and vice versa. (e.g. 100Hz is same as 100fps).
BUT
If you video card is only doing 40 FPS, but your monitor is 60HZ, then it will show 60 frames every second. So 20 of the 60 frames it shows will be the same.

I was wondering if I should get the Hauppauge 1600 (PCI) or the Hauppauge 1800 (PCI Express)?
I think that is the only difference, so would the faster interface help any? Is that the only differences?
Does anyone know if there is any advantage to getting a Hauppauge 1800 (PCI Express instead of PCI)? The only difference would be the speed of communication right? And PCI is fast enough?
This is the remote I was wanting to use

and am thinking of going with Hauppauge 1600 with the ATSC tuner
Here is the website for those not familiar with it and some screenshots

And here is a demo video of it in action with a Gyration Remote control (which is amazing)...

Or goto http://www.circuitcity.com and search for GYR3101US
Anyone know anything about this remote? Is is good/will it work with LinuxMCE
This is linuxMCE http://www.linuxmce.org for those that don't know. I believe it is...
I was just looking into LinuxMCE. Does anyone have any experience with this remote and LinuxMCE. The demo video shows a guy using a Gyro remote

There is a way to have on of the nics to be the priority 1 under windows xp
I have one behind a router using Synergy and the other is public so I can remote into it. I need the nic with the public IP to be first priority so I can remote in but it always uses the other nic first. I used to...
I believe it has less memory in it though - I am having the same problem but I just moved and dont think I am using the correct power supply. I chould be a heat issue also - Have you looked at those 2 options
anyone with WRT54G - can I get your psu info please. I also noticed that the RT31P2 has 23 Watts which is more than my WRT54G but I dont think it really matters. Anyone know?
Have you looked and the new Wireless N. I havent used one but if you are going wireless why not try the new wireless N
http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/prod...tail.aspx?sku=A0642956&cs=19&c=us&l=en
I would get the cheapest wired router out there - they are basicly the same, or wait and get an new wireless n. g is ok but if you are getting wireless now i would recomend waiting and get a 802.11n router.
MTU is packet size, RWIN is how many packets it will sent out before wating for reply - is it is too low you will tie up bandwith with many unnecesary acknowledgements, if to high will creat a slowdown if any packets need to be retransmitted
I tried the power supply for my RT31P2 which says 12v 1000ma and it comes up but when I look in the interface(192.168.1.1) it is all messed up. Can only see some of the info so I dont think that is the correct power needs.
Anyone with a WRT54G tell me what thier power supply voltages say. On my WRT54G is says 12v 1000ma but on my power supply shows 12v 750ma so I dont think it is getting to correct power.
I have a WRT54G V2 and it reboots probably every hour. I have the latest firmware on it now from linksys. I am going to try an alternate firmware. I have it in the open so I dont think it is a heat thing. Any suggestions?
I works good for me though. I have a server set up that has to have public IP and I use the other one with synergy behind a local router like a KVM but with different OS's and comuters altogether.
QOS - the capabilites depend on your router. Read in your router about what you can do with QOS. Some give priority to one over the other or limit the bandwidth period.
yeah using WPA2 is possible if not then use WPA and you could use mac filtering. You could also check all of your MAC #'s. They should be posted on things like routers - On NIC cards just do an "ipconfig /all" and it will show you the mac numbers of your local nic's
I have dual network cards. One is on a local network with a Linksys router, the other is on a business network and have access to network drives. My computer get access throuth the Linksys and I cant see network drives untill I disable the local NIC. Is there a way to give priority to NIC's...
I had sound and then installed WinFast TV2000 XP Deluxe, since then I have no sound. Winamp, windows player give errors. Tried reinstalling sound and capture card with the latest drivers. Direct X is 9c but when I look on sound now on dxdiag and sound tab all the info about my sound is gone...
My motherboard will run at 100 133 but not 166 stable. Memtest show no errors on 100 or 133 but does at 166. Is it the memory of the motherboard? I dont have another of either to test them with. Or is it simply bios timing settings?
