HOTTT SHUTTLE AK31A(KT266A) for $59 shipped -refurb newegg

Got mine yesterday, and while installing the ram, noticed a burn mark , where one of the tiny chips or resistors had gotten very hot- the little chip is actually loose on the board. I don`t want to take a chance damaging my Crucial DDR, or my XP1600, so I`m RMAing it.

will the kt7a support duron 1ghz?

I read in Pauls Abit KT7 faq, the KT7A rev.1.3 officially supports the morgan core Durons, and XP processors. I recently assembled a KT7E(not supported) mb, using a 1gig Duron, and it runs fine- the only thing is , when you run CPUID, it shows "not supported" in the SSE instructions box.

I just got hooked up to cable, and the tech who did the installation recommended a cable router to network the rest of the PC`s in my house- I have a hub that I had planned to use, but am unsure after speaking to the tech. Some help please?

Thanks for the info guys. Hard_Boiled, I downloaded the latest bios from Dell`s site, and will be shopping for a cheap P3 soon. I saw the post in the Hot Deals forum about the oem P3900`s, but can`t afford to spend $200.00 right now. Thanks again.

Already checked- they say it is possible to install faster cpu`s, but "we don`t recommend it". I was trying to find someone who had actually done it. Thanks Vincent.

Is it possible to upgrade the cpu of a Dell Dimension XPS R400 ?

I built a T-Bird system for a friend, who gave me his old system as partial trade. I was wondering if I could swap in a 100mhz P3 (750, 800), in place of the P2 400, or maybe an overclocked Celeron II ? SiSoft says it`s an Intel MB, with a BX chipset. Anyone else had any luck with this?

Can`t get H+ to go full screen (as opposed to letterbox) on my TV

Tried various settings, to no avail. VCDs go full screen, but not DVDs. I don`t mind the black bars, but I`d like to tape some stuff for my kids, and their TV is not very big, so full screen is better for them. A little help, please? Your replies are appreciated.

I had the Hollywood running through the sound card when I watched on my monitor, so I wouldn`t have to switch the speaker cable around, but this setup will be a dedicated DVD player, so I`m looking for the best way to run the sound.

Need help once again with my Duron this time.

Which motherboard are you using? If I go too far with my Abit KT7, I reboot, and hold down the "insert" key, which brings the system back up at the default speed.

Saw one at Frys today, and liked it better than the Coolermaster sitting next to it, but they are both WAY expensive. I don`t think I can justify $230.00 for a case, but I`m thinking about it. Just looking for some feedback on this.

Abit KT7 - Will raising I/O voltage help me overclock?

Default I/O voltage is 3.3, with adjustments to 3.9- how does this affect performance? Also, what does cpu drive strength affect?

Is eVGA GeForce2MX 32MB w/ TV-out good or trouble?

If you can, take a look at the card, and check out what ram is installed- mine came with 7.5ns ram, and is clocked at 175core, 140mem! Buyer beware.

My friend has a Dell PII400, with a Turtle Beach sound card, and USB speakers. The sound card seems to be giving him problems with games, so I suggested the SB Live, but I`m not sure if it will work with the USB speakers- a little help, please?

I once had a utility that could tell you if you had PC66 or PC100, and it only worked with Intel chipsets. Was wondering if anyone had something to verify PC100 or 133. cas2, or cas3?
