SuSE 9.2 x86_64 network install

I had the same trouble with a VIA Velocity NIC AND a SMC 1255TX NIC! I snagged the velocity module from VIA, put it on a disk, and told the SuSE installer to load it. The SMC card used the 'tulip' module.

NEC CRT Monitors

Bah. I have the same FP2141SB monitor and text looks fine, especially compared to my Samsung LCD. I got my monitor in 2002 and have none of the problems you describe. Look into the SLI thing, then, if you must, contact NEC/Mitsu for an RMA, they're quite good about it.
