Hi all,
I have an ASUS N90 notebook with 2x2GB RAM and I've read several places that 4GB is the maximum possible...
I wanted to switch them out for 2x4GB to get a little boost but I'm hesitant to just blow the money in vain... is there any good reason why this laptop might not support more...
It's like someone else's profile with my login... everything from join date, name, post-count is wrong. Seems email and password are the only things that were correct...
Please help?
Alex
Good question. We are debating whether to develop our own solution or use something that already exists. For that reason, ideally it would either be free or not that expensive.
Could you tell me a bit more about the difference in quality of service you mentioned please?
Thanks!
Alex
I'm looking for a tool to monitor whether my websites/servers are online and to send me an email/sms if they are down.
I've been looking into AreMySitesUp , Montastic and a few others.
Can anyone vouch for any of these? I realize there are a lot of options both free and paid and I need...
Thanks! I added both suggestions to the list and gonna try out Ubuntu Tweak :)

I really am not the most apt to talk about the differences but I've tried both Ubuntu...
As far as it being "the best" that's really a matter of personal preference. What I can tell you as a long-time Windows user that switched successfully to Linux roughly a month and a half ago is that Ubuntu is definitely one of the more user-friendly ditros out there.
In the past I tried...
It's a pretty great thread for newbie Linux users that just moved from Windows like myself with alternatives/recommendations for Linux software.
Keeps getting bumped and really there used to be one of these before the forum changed.
Thanks,

The only thing I haven't figured out yet is launching a terminal window with a specific profile (shouldn't be too hard either).
In the terminal just go to Edit -> Profiles to create as many as you want (change font-size, colors, etc) and then Terminal -> Change Profile to switch... :)
thanks and yeah I thought of that but I actually want a proper human translation :)

hi all, decided to finally start making the move to linux so I installed ubuntu 9.04 (for now, anyways until I feel more comfortable) and I'm kinda lost as far as software goes... as in: what's recommended for managing/playing music, playing movies, IM, torrent client, etc etc

its mostly about backups and some centralized documents. they have no server per-se just a win xp box thats acting as a file server and backup location.
