They refused my order - the Ritz camera number / Nikon code and the Staples camera code / number are different, so they believe there is some difference among the two cameras. If anyone successfully gets it, post!

Laptop owners: Hot freakin deal to recover a laptop should it be stolen.

It's actually very valuable in determining where a machine is located. Especially if it's a DSL or Cable line with a static IP address, it's easy to find who's using the address; if it's a corporate address with a static IP, the thief is cooked (assuming cooperative law enforcement.)

The router issue (hidden IP addresses, showing just 192.x.x.x) can be partially resolved by the program having a tracert-style output put into the e-mail to you. For example: IP Address: 192.168.0.55 Route to WWW.CNN.COM: 192.168.0.55, 192.168.0.1, #Here's where it counts...real ISP info...

Just got my 1800FP

DVI makes a difference - I can tell the difference between the analog output of a PC and the DVI output of a PC to my Dell 20" LCD. It's very convenient that both can be hooked up at the same time, though - and a composite AND an SVIDEO too - and a button cycles between the 4 different modes.

That's wrong, guys. Unless you're buying the 8X 4200s (which are still pretty new and less likely to be discounted), get the 64M versions. As another poster said, the 4200/64M is a bit faster than the 4200/128M, and it's cheaper too - win/win. Don't believe me? Check here...

RE: 640x480 - Obviously; you're outputting to a television! It won't look quite as nice as that 1600x1200 20" LCD. OTOH, it's a $200 XBOX, $60 modchip, and $100 120GB HDD solution - stick games, MP3s, DiVXs, and all kinds of other things on the XBOX and have a very nice, very high quality...

RDRAM is more expensive because it's proprietary and fees are charged to make it. It's also more expensive because (at one time) it was vastly faster than the alternative - that's no longer true that it's faster, but it's still a bit more expensive. I don't see it as a big deal either way...

RAM is RAM, folks. This RAM will give you 1-5% faster speed in quite a few operations compared to modern DDR systems (like the DDR333 in the 4550s) but still, RAM is RAM. If your software needs 512M of RAM to work, you'll need to purchase 512MB of RAM, whether you have a DDR system or an RDRAM...

ReplayTV 5040 - ~$189 AR at CC (MSN Wallet)

I want to be clear here - the problem was with 2 4500 units in a row; I'm familiar with how recording reduces quality a little bit - this was a *huge* reduction in quality. Compared to my ReplayTV 3060 and Showstopper, the 4500 was horrible - just *terrible* - while comparing each PVR's "HIGH"...

All - the DVARCHIVE software (by far the best of the ReplayTV video extractors) doesn't work with the 5000 series - it works with the 4000 and 4500 series only. It's *great*, though, if you have a 4x00 series ReplayTV - it works seamlessly, and you can easily make rules to copy or move ALL...

Good News: emachine guys can upgrade their video memory to 32MB!

Guys, You're way, way out in left field on this. The driver isn't going to make a big difference - Intel's already said the only significant change is in the amount of video RAM reported back to the system. Even if it did allocate more than the standard 11MB of System RAM for the video card...

Any good deals for laptop NICs.

You also might consider just going wireless. After doing so, I won't go back. $69 for the PC Card and $129 for the base station, all from Best Buy about 2 weeks ago. SOHOWARE is the brand. Pricewatch has similar pricing.... Wired NICs on a laptop are a pain - whenever I'd watch TV and...

I'm shocked you don't like ICS - I think it's dead simple and amazingly easy to get working - it's literally plug and go. The only limitation is that the router PC must remain on for other PCs to get on the net. DHCP, of course, works and is a part of ICS - there's nothing to set up or fiddle...
