Actually here in NYC a lot of the peaking plants (like the one I work at) still burn diesel/kerosene in their GTs. It's probably still pretty common around various other areas of the US as well.
I'm actually having the same problem. I have a linksys router, I can get associated signal strength but can't connect to the router. My roomates computer isn't having any problems and I tested the card on his comp and it was working fine. Here is the routing table...
Steven Erikson's A Malazan Tale of the Book of the Fallen
The first book in that series is called Gardens of the Moon...a lot of people who like George R.R. Martin end up liking Erikson's books also.
This is another vote for Steven Erikson's Malazan Book of the Fallen series. Collectively they are probably the best fantasy books I've ever read. The first 50-60 pages of the first book is difficult reading b/c he drops you right into the middle of his world; but after that, you won't be able...
He did that one show I think right after he one, but he won't be on again for a while. ESPN worked out a deal with him so that he could finish up his last semester at college before starting full-time. (At least I seem to remember reading that somewhere...)

If you're looking for something cheap, just find a used trumpet. You should be able to pick up a decent used one for around $200 I'd guess (haven't looked in a long time). And lessons would definately help speed up the learning process.
My FIFA season is going pretty well. As Manchester United I'm 20-4-2 on the professional difficulty level. World class difficulty is a tad too hard for me...hehe.
