The Syncmasters are really impressive, even while playing games. I tried one out the other day at our best buy playing MOHAA and I was impressed.

Are AMD 760 boards stable compared to i850 boards?

My Epox 8k7a is stable as hell, and I leave it on 24/7, haven't had it crash since I first got it up and running 1 month ago.

100KB/s - is that good for a college considering all the comps...?

hahaha here at MSU, we can get 8mb/sec from the network to my ftp, and like 800kb/sec upload to my friend on a cable modem. I can download from websites on average, about 300-500k/sec

go for a geforce2 gts or pro, they go for like 130-150 or so right now and they're way better than the MX400s.

is PC2100 and PC2400 compatible?

from personal experience, I am not too impressed with the kyro 2. My roomate got one and put it on his dual P3 733E system, which was basically a top of the line system (1 year ago hehe) and he got like 1300 in 3dmark2001, and we benched quake3 arena...he got like 60 fps in 1024x768, my gf2pro...

finally got my new comp together, did benchmarks

ok I am gonna do that, but I got about 117 fps in the q3 timedemo on 1024x768 with 32 bit color, not too shabby, eh? edit : I looked on 3dchipset.com and all I saw was 12.41, which is what I have... edit #2 : found em, thanks :)

80gb 5400rpm OR 60gb 7200rpm

Go with the 7200, you'll notice the speed difference and 60 gb of storage is a lot more than you think.

Well, my RMAs finally went through and I put it together, here are the benchmarks for my new 1.2ghz SiSoft Sandra : Dhrystone - 3325, Whetstone - 1645 3DMark2001 : 3569 If you want to see what I have, go to my rigs and check out my main rig. Not great, but decent scores!

Is it Bad?

IDE RAID in general is not a good idea, it can ruin some hard drives, I've heard, especially those IBM 60GXPs and 75GXPs.

Need upgrade advice

yeah that voodoo5 isn't gonna give you even close to as good performance as a gf3 (I should know I have a v5) and you're also gonna see a lot of improvement with a thunderbird 1.4 over that duron, especially if you use DDR and overclock it.
