Will I notice any difference in these?
G860, G850, G840, G630, G620, G530, G550
The G840 is on top here. In fact, it scored better than some i3s and i5s.

Ok, about to buy a new cpu. Cant get an i5 right now, so going with an 1155 socket board that can upgrade later.
Budget < $100
Looking at:
G860, G850, G840, G630
Currently on an e5800. Using a gtx460 video card. Mostly minecraft. :)
Any thoughts?
Here are my needs..
I want to find out if a nettop can run windows 7 media center, that will stream to an xbox. I will never watch the video directly on the nettop. The tuners to be used are a networked HDHomerun and a USB TV Tuner. Can the nettop handle the throughput to record the QAM...
HEre's the scenerio..
You are in a hotel with a password protected wireless lan. You have a laptop with wireless and a wired ethernet jack. You also have an xbox and want it to have internet access for xbox live gaming, but have no wireless adapter.

I now have the ram 4 gigs. I am trying too stay under 150 for mb + CPU if possible. The e5200 is 84 at newegg and several nice Asus boards are in the 50s. That's about 150 shipped.
Choices are:
AMD 6000+
AMD 7750
Intel e5200
All nearly the same price.
Vairables:
I do not game, just mainly use pc for web / email / windows media center (vista). I have an nVidia 9600 PCIe card that I will use.
Will I notice any difference in these? I am coming from an AMD...
I guess I should clarify.. I am using Vista MCE to record HD via HDHomerun, then streaming to my 360 in the front room. Not really using it as a "traditional" HTPC.
Thats how I am using it as a media center / email / web surfer.
Well the chart posted by BernardP and other sites I have looked into said that the e5200 was a better bang for the buck unless you were gaming. I havent placed the order yet, but should soon.
I am ordering the e5200, but torn on which board to get. Kinda want the asus, as they seem to be quality, but open to others. Any suggestions? Probably buying at newegg. They have 2 asus around 54.00.
The egg has e5200 for 83. Seems a touch high, but not too bad. Now for a decent board. Micro or Regular ATX are good. I have a pci express video card already.
I am a desktop user, no gaming, tech savy, and use my pc as a media center (mainly)
I am looking to upgrade on the cheap.
I am looking for the best combo of MB and proc. in the bang for buck category. Trying to stay under 125 total! :o
Anyone know what the best option is?
AMD x2...
WE currently use a dymo 400 for labels (around 10,000 a year). It jams quite a lot.
Is anyone familiar with another brand of direct thermal printers that can print from Filemaker pro to make labels? I want to format the label in filemaker and send it to the printer. Or even print from...
Also, thanks xSauronx, thats something new I did not know! Cool.
Downloaded pingplotter and working perfect. THanks!
I was just checking to see if the cable modem was crapping out every 5 minutes or so since they corrected my problem. Thats what was happening, thats why this was...
Thanks for the primer, but I understand how it works, I just had a problem with electricity getting into my cable lines from a bad TV.
Now that that variable has been removed, I want to make sure that the uptime is more than it was when I HAD the problem.
:)
I am switching (maybe) to cable modem and am doing a test. I am lookign for a simple program that can, for example, ping google every 30 seconds, and report whether or not it could ping them. Then log it for analysis.
I just want to make sure my connection is VERY stable for digital phone...
I have a system here at work that is "blowing" video cards. No smoke, no smell, and all electronics on them look fine.
Video cards work for a while, then poof. Nothing, after a reboot. I am on the 3rd card now in this machine.
Any ideas what could cause this?
PCIe card.
Can anyone figure this out? I have seen a few, but they all lock the workstation, I just need it to be the equivilant of hitting the start menu, then "switch user".
Anyone? I cant find this info anywhere, and this is the home of the geek in the know..
:)
Thanks!
I have a full windows 2k winstall disk and number that is mine. I just wish that Microsoft could have a web key inquiry thing that would, instead of making you install the old OS, check your old KEY and log it into a database, then set your new Vista upgrade key to allow an install. That...
Anyone else got a thought?
Seems to me IMHO like it would create a messy system, and if you HAVE to do a clean install (per Microsofts page) from 2000 then you would just be wasting hard disk space and creating problems.. Anyone have some hard facts?
I have seen people say that you need a working install to use the upgrade versions. Now, 2000 says that you must do a clean install, SO..
Going from Windows 2000 to Home Premium, will I have to install 2000 THEN Vista should I need to reinstall it all at some point?
I am about to upgrade a box here at work from an athlon xp to an X2 setup. I am going from AGP to pcie etc.. CAN I do this without a FULL reinstall?
The ONLY reason I ask (I know I SHOULD reinstall) is that the user has 50,000 programs installed and a TON of customization. Will a repair...
