ANybody know a great mobo for AMD 64?

It isn't a brand new board, but I highly recommend the Asus K8V SE Deluxe. It comes standard with gigabit LAN, but it runs awesome. I have had mine up for over a month with no issues whatsoever.

1. Nothing based on the Q3A supports surround sound. 2. I chose MSI because I find Asus overpriced and I liked the feature set of the MSI a little better. Secondly, yes the MSI board will support analog 4.1, and it sounds great.

MSI K7N420 PRO & V8200 DELUXE PROBLEM

The nForce chipset does not support graphics cards that require 3.3V. Instead it will only support the newer 1.5V versions. You should check your card, I would say that this is the problem. If so it will not work on the K7N420. Sorry, but you will probably have to return it and get one that...

What is the best Mother Board?

Wait for the nForce 415-D chipset boards to come out or get a 420-D based board. They are faster than the KT266A boards (I don't care what the reviews say my own beches prove this fact), and they are more stable (no 4in1's).

Looking to build a new AMD setup that has ATA 133

VIA chipsets are notoriously buggy, and their damned 4 in 1 drivers always seem to cause more problems than they end up fixing. I recently had a KT266A chipset board (Soyo Dragon Plus), and it was the biggest pile of crap that I have ever owned. I will never own another VIA chipset board...

133a and 266a vs. amd 761 questions

You also failed to mention the nForce boards available. Both MSI and Asus currently have versions available and ABIT is coming out with one very soon. They have great memory performance, are very fast, and offer rock solid stability. It will perform on evenly (and in at least my case) better...

The "Official" MSI K7N420 Thread (nForce 420 chipset)

FYI, There is a new BIOS version out that is being distributed over at the MSI forums. It is version 2.2 and solves most of the big issues, including the 5.1 analog sound thing I think. I just put it on my machine and it is running rock solid (as always with my nForce). Hope it helps you guys...

Does anyone else here own a Plextor 24x 10x 40x cd-rw or different plextor cd-rw ?

My Plextor 161040A works fine with cheap cd-rs. I normally use only Verbatim or TDK, but since I went to college some friends have had me burn and read some cheap cds and it worked just fine. You might want to give Plextor a call on this issue, as it might be a hardware defect.

I am also going to recommend an ECS board, but I would say go with the K7VZA. It is based on the KT133A chipset you requested, and having just built 32 computers based on this board I can tell you it is very stable. It should also fit your limited budget, I think I got them for $58 a piece...

Best VIA KT266A Board ?

I would say get the Soyo Dragon+. My is running 100% stable and seems to have all the extras you are looking for. After that I would say the SolTek or maybe Asus.

Where to install Soyo Dragon + Sound Connectors

You are exactly right. You place it in an open slot just like you would a PCI card. BTW, great choice on the mobo. I just got my Dragon+ running last night and all I can say is WOW. I can't believe there is that much difference over my 8K7A! Hope your system goes together just as well. Vampiro

MSI Kt266 Pro2 ---- Quality of the onboard sound ? ------ Make comparison .

If good onboard sound is what you are looking for, you might want to check out the Soyo Dragon+ or the IWill XP333. Both use the C-Media chip which provides good quality, or you could look at an nForce board. Basically, anything other than an AC97 will be fine!

Not sure about the nForce version of the board, but you might want to consider the KT266A version. It really appears to be a great board, with lots of extra options. AT least it better be, mine should be here on Tuesday!

You might want to look at the IWill XP333. It seems to really smoke on the benchmarks and is priced at $99 at Newegg. Personally, I would spend a little more to get a Dragon + but that is up to you.

It isn't so much for the PS, as it is for the case. I have been wanting a larger case for awhile now, and this seemed like a good time to get one. Especially considering I get the Enermaz 330W PSU with it from Newegg for $99.

You should be able to do the clean install with XP. It has always worked before, and I don't see why XP would be any different.
