    Quietest power supply?

I've used the seasonic super tornado 300 and it was quieter than any psu I'ved owned (2 antecs, 2 enermax, 1 sparkle, 1 allied). However it had the non-start issue silentPCreview states so I swapped it for the Seasonic Super Silencer 400 which works great. Even with my ear to the fan grill I can...

    athlon thunderbird overclocking???

I had a 1.0 axia-y stepping chip that ran at 1.6ghz and a 1.33 ayhja-y that ran 1.66ghz. Both watercooled and ran on a volt modded board for 2.0v+. At 1.85v (max stock vcore) I'd get around 1.5 off the 1.0 and 1.6 on the 1.33. If you haven't bought the chips already look for these specific...

    Clear Cube Computer

I would be interested in a larger version that would fit my watercooling. Because the clear factor lets you show the guts of your rig I'm sure many watercoolers would be interested, although we require tons of space ;)

    Friend's 2.4C @ 4.2 on Water

You also forgot all this is possible because Koolance makes such high performance waterblocks that can handle 2.4c@4.2 1.8v so well :P

    Best water cooling

Mindflux, Cathar ;) I believe there are some blocks (custom and commercial) that cool the ram also but I've never seen any that cool the back.

    Best water cooling

Best wb is the cascade wb (100$~) although I've heard they are on delay till Feb 04. I haven't dabbed in the gpu cooling area myself but I've heard good things about the new swiftech gpu block.

Fan blowing on back of MB behind cpu socket drops temps by 4C

I tried this myself after reading that big hardocp thread but my temps didn't drop any. Any watercoolers have any luck with this?

Where to get a 1700+ or 2100+ that overclocks well?

There's been talk about 1800+ dltc JIXIB's hitting 2.4-2.5 fairly easy. There are tons of 1700+ that do 2.4-2.5 on air and many on water. You just have to get the right stepping and have a little luck. I got mine at svc a while back.

*UPDATE* Modified my D-Tek TC-4 Rev2 water block with pics

Nice mod. I wish I could do that to my TC-4 :) Have you seen DodgeViper's mod at overclockers forum? I believe he added a 3rd inlet barb in the middle and dimpled the area above the core. This was a while ago so I don't remember much.

why is this pump so LOUD?!?!

Yep, give it a try. I've heard of it runing in aquariums for years without a hitch.
  19. S

why is this pump so LOUD?!?!

Are you running inline or submerged? I've been running mine about 4 months submerged and just converted to inline. The via aqua is supposively supposed to be run submerged even though many users have ran it for about a year inline with no problems. Have you tried the impeller mod? If that...

    Subzero 4g anyone?

It seems to perform up there with top air but minimal noise. For the price it's a waste of money IMO. Leave the peltiers to watercooling ;)

    1700+@2600MHz

I would think to get watercooling would help get higher overclocks by the higher vcore it could handle. Nice chip, I have to run 2.0v+ just to prime at 2.5ghz. Good luck breaking 2.6 ;)

    Lapping Questions

It depends on what I'm lapping, usually I cut them big enough so I can do figure 8s without running off the sides.
  24. S

    Lapping Questions

Usually I cut up a sheet and use about 3 or more squares per grit. Once a square is used to lap with it's pretty much useless. The finer grits wear away quite fast. I think some sort of tarnish remover will get rid of the oils and smudges but if they aren't near the contact points then I...

    best silent cooling solution EVER

:Q Can't believe it until there's more info to back it up. ATM I wouldn't trust any passive cooling to tame my toasty chip :D

best chip ever to OC? was the celeron right ?

100% oc? I rarely see any 2932mhz 1700+ and most are extreme cooled. I'd have to say 600 durons are up there since many hit over 1.0 and 1.1 with good air cooling which is well over an 80% oc.
  28. S

    barton 2800+ @2.02v on air!!!

It takes me 2.075v to hit 2.51ghz. It hits low 60c's with watercooling. I would never run it like this 24/7 if I actually want this chip to last (until I get a new chip to oc anyway), only long enough to prove it's stable under prime :D And yes, over 1.85 and you get barely any jumps for tons of...

    Trying to get a DUT3C 1700+ to 2.3ghz

Yep. I've used 160/5 before (32mhz pci) and everything worked fine. My vid cards have always been able to handle more then my pci (nic, soundcard, HD, etc..). I'd say up to 175 is fairly safe. One nic I had was really sensitive to above 176 vs another that could handle 190/5.

Which is better for temps? Reservoir or no reservoir?

I agree with all the posts above. With my reservoir it's so much easier & faster to bleed my system which is a plus since I fiddle with my wc occasionally.

    Pre-modded water cooled cases

Danger Den is a very respectable company. As for premodded cases there are so many out there I can't even point you in the right direction. It's all up to what you are looking for. If it's watercooling performance/quality I'd suggest looking for kits or components at first that suit you. Then...

    Switch to water cooling?

Watercooling is only for those who love slk800 w/ tornado temps but dread the jet engine noise :)
  37. S

    Switch to water cooling?

Don't think so... Take off your side panel and run it for a while. Your case temps should drop a good amount. If it does that'll show that you need more fresh/cooler air circulating into your case ~~> therefore better airflow. BTW some mobo sensors used for "system" temp are not accurate...

Ugh, what did I do wrong when lapping?

Stop at 1500 grit then. The performance differences between 800 grit vs 1000+ are supposively minimal to none. I stop at 1200 when lapping my hsf and waterblocks.

    Switch to water cooling?

It doesn't seem like you have good airflow in your case if your room is 80F (27c) and your case is 100F (38c). With good airflow case temps should close in near your room temp and your proc temps will drop dramtically as well. With watercooling your temps will drop but again temps would drop...
