Hardware Corrupt?

I have been experiencing seemingly random restarts (it gives me a blue screen which almost always has a different error message on it). Since i'm on XP the blue screen is not the regular one from Win98, but its just as useless. It then restarts, and sometimes gives me another blue screen...

Athlon XP and KG7-R

I know that there is a new BIOS update that adds Athlon XP support to the KG7-R, but is that just for the first few processors, or will I be able to use that update to have the latest Athlon XP in the summer of 2002? Would they have to release a new BIOS update for the newer XP's or would it...

XP did not pass the GAMING test, back to 98SE!!

I can't speak for all WinXP users but i have had NO problems as far as compatibility goes. The only thing close is that the DIrectX 8.0 VIdeo Capture Update won't run, but that is because microsoft made it detect what OS you had before it would run the EXE, and when it detected that i had WinXP...

Which MB, ABIT KG7DDRRAID or ASUS A7M266

Its priced at 160 for the RAID version, which is worth it considering you get a good RAID controller without using a PCI slot. If you aren't intersted in RAID There is a cheaper KG7 without it. As for waiting for a newer board...you could be doing that for eternity. There is never NOT going...

KG7-R and RAM

I have that same board and same RAM setup, but I've never once had a lock-up or a low-mem message. I ran on Win2k for a while, now im on WinXP, so it might be that your on Win9x\ME. Either way, 512MB should not give you low mem errors... Sorry I couldn't help, but atleast you know its not...

Throwing away my 8k7a, any suggestions?

I have the KG7-RAID, which is the same as the KG7 but with onboard RAID. I love the board! Besides the shuttle ak-31 it was my only choice since i wanted 4 DDR DIMM slots. I havn't had a blue screen yet, nor a lock-up. But...The first board I got had a bad AGP slot and i had to RMA it and...

AGP 4x on KG7/AMD 1.4

I went into the KG7 BIOS and switched it from AGP2x to 4x and when i tried to load windows XP it gave me a nasty error giving me no choice but to restart. I havn't installed the AMD AGP drivers because they are listed for Windows 2000, not Windows XP. Should I Install the drivers to get AGP...

RAID, am I understanding this correctly?

I just so happen to be using 2 40GB hdd's in a RAID 0 Array, and after setting it up I installed Windows XP. It detected a n 80GB HDD and asked If i wanted to partition it. It partitions just like a single Hard drive. I think the RAID controller automatically makes half of whatever sized...

Capture Support on WinXP

Does anyone know when DirectX 8 will have a capture driver update for WinXP? They currently have one for ALL the other Windows (its the same file). I think that the drivers would work on WinXP but the EXE will not run if it detects a different OS than the ones it supports.

Nvidia Capture Drivers

It's not a cam, its a playstation 2. Anandtech did a review of the board and plugged their NES into and could see their Dr.Mario game. It should work for my PS2 as well.

Nvidia Capture Drivers

I installed the Nvida Capture Drivers for my Gainward Powerpack !!! and when i plug my ps2 into the composite plugs, and run ulead video studio, or another video capture program i have, it says i need to install capture drivers. I did install the drivers, so I dont know what is the problem...

My AMD 1.4's FSB

Oh ok, i was actually running at 1057(100) before, and i changed it now to 1402(133) So 3dmark2001 will still show up as 133mhz as fsb, and only AMD and mobo makers call it 266 (as a marketing tool)??

My AMD 1.4's FSB

I recently got an AMD 1.4Ghz processor and on the box, (and the order) it says 1400-266mhz, so i should have a 266mhz FSB. Why then, does it only allow me to choose 1400(133) in my KG7-RAID bios? and 3dmark2001 reads it as 1.37GHZ with a 133mhz external clock speed. I should have a 266mhz...

Geforce3 Video-In question

Hmm i hooked my ps2 up to the back of my computer using the plug that came with my card, and ulead and another vid capture program can't "detect capture drivers" I dont know what these are or how to install them...

I have a Gainward Geforce3 with Video-In, and i was wondering if there is a way to hook a PS2 or VCR up to it? What software would I need? I have a plug that came with the card that converts the s-video into composite.

Boot W/CD-ROM Support In Win2k

To make a boot disk insert the win2k cd and go to d:\windows2000\enlgish\boot\makeboot.exe That might not be the exact file path but its similar, and the file is named makeboot.exe. You will need 4 disks though.

I dont know if i should start a new thread for this, but i'll see if anyone reading this one knows: I installed win2k, but it still only sees c: as 39gb...I have 2 40gb (should appear as ~39gb each) in a RAID-0 config, and so it should read c: as ~80gb, or atleast recogize that i have a total...

Sorry, i was in a bit of a hurry so i just mentioned that my specs were linked in my signature. Either way, the RAID driver idea worked, and win2k is now installing properly!

Oh ok, that makes sense, i did see that message but i ignored it (thought i could do it after it loaded). BTW: I have absolutely no intention of keeping win98, just a way to bypass using a boot disk. Ill post back here if i have problems doing what you suggested.
