Does anyone have a link, or can tell me how to duel boot windows xp and win 98? I have win xp rc1 installed at the moment, and I want to put win 98 on a seperate partition for a couple of games that don't work well in xp. I may not have the need for win 98 later on when the final version of xp...

get the detonator drivers, i know winxp says not to use them, but they work fine and you can get tv output, however im not sure if they work at 640x480

Is a TaiSol CGK742092 sufficient for a non-overclocked 1.4GHz Athlon?

you need to use a small flathead screwdriver to put that clip on, then it goes on very easily

New Laptop, "Search" died after only 4 days

thats really bad o them to just give u a system recovery disk rather than the full win ME disk. Usually they have to give u the full thing as you paid for it with your system. As your phone calls aren't working , send off a few emails to HP, send to various address from HP to ensure a responce.

I hate tourture!!!!

When I run in safe mode (win 98SE) I don't get any errors on the torture test. does this mean the instability is caused by driver problems??

I put some ASII on my cpu and also changed my supply from 200w to an enermax 350w. This however does not fit in my case (i have a gateway tower case), and seems to make no difference when overclocking. However my CPU temps have dropped from around 55C on full load to 45C on full load:) But now...

Windows XP and overclocking.....bad mix?

basically your overclock is too much, and although it didnt show up in win2000, it would have done eventually. Winxp probably just shows it up a bit more. However I dont know the ins and outs of this. I'm getting winxp preview version soon, and i'll let u know if it works with my overclock.

Testing an overclock, what program?

depends if u want to benchmark it against othe CPUs or check the stability. I would suggest SISoft Sandra for benchmark tests, and the "torture test" for stability. Just type those names in a search engine

vcache and virtual memory - need advice

Virtual mem used to be best set at 2 to 2.5 time the amount of RAM u had. However with the amount of RAM increasing, its changed. With your 512MB u could try running without a swap file, but I would suggest thatu keep it equal to the amount of ram u have. I have 384MB but when I ran with a swap...

ctrl alt del does what?

Who said this?!?!?! Whilst i only have win 98SE, it is common knowlage that pressing ctrl alt del allows youu to manually shut down programs and to shut down your pc quckly if there are any crashes that lead to system instablity

Is my computer overclockable?

U need a golden fingered devise which sits on top of some pins once u open up the processor. There was an excellent guide somewher, maybe at www.overclockers.com or somewhere like that. However, its tricky, but u may get some good results. Also I cant find a GFD anywhere any more.

How do I change the ram timmings, in the bios of my KT7a Raid the only thing closest to it is DRAM timmings, and the options for this is: SDRAM 8/10ns normal medium Fast Turbo
