Be careful with cheap DVD burners - I bought an I/O Magic DVD burner and had a lot of problems with the burned DVD's (stalling, skipping, stopping). Tried different media, different software, upgraded the firmware, etc. Nothing helped. Went out and bought a Sony burner and have had no problems...
I'm not a gamer, but a friend overseas is asking me to buy and ship him something called "Gameshark" for PS2. Apparently its some kind of gizmo for cheating games. After searching I found one made by Intertec ($49) and one made by Madcatz ($29).
Which one should I get? Does it work? What...
He's taller than Bush. Look at the record since 1904 -
1904
Theodore Roosevelt (Rep) 5'10" TALLER WINS
Alton B. Parker (Dem) 5' 9"
1908
William H. Taft (Rep) 6'0" TALLER WINS
William J. Bryan (Dem) 5' 10"
1912
Woodrow Wilson (Dem) 5' 11" TALLER WINS

It is heartbreaking to see the families of American soldiers mourn their loved ones who were killed over there...
I just keep wondering - Is this America's war? Or is this just George Bush's war? What the hell is going on?
Price of gas likely to go to $3+... I'd recommend a hybrid -
Toyota's got a hybrid Highlander and RAV4 coming out this fall. If they sell half as well as the Prius, put a deposit on one now 'cause there's going to be a long waiting list once people realize they can get 35-45mpg from an SUV...
If you have to put him up for adoption, don't take him to the pound. Go to PetSmart or Petco - they work with local adoption agencies. They'll find him a good home.
You could also post an ad on craigslist. Its free and a lot of people read it.
Thanks for the advice, but this guy is 50 yrs old - he's not a gamer. And he wants something lightweight. He's replacing a Dell (about 3 yrs old) that's too heavy for him (probably only weighs about 7 lbs).
I send a lot of computers to Kenya -
Most companies will not transfer warranties since they have separate distributors responsible for different areas. IBM for example told me that a server sold in the US will only be covered in the US.
I think it has to do with part of the purchase price...
Why are there no telemarketers? Is there some law they cannot call cell phones?
Anyway telemarketing calls on my landline are down about 95% since they started the "Do not call" list.
Interesting story kranky - there should be some sort of directory of cell numbers... Wonder if this VoIP (voice over IP) is going to cause similar confusion?
It is something like a rebate - except its a rebate on just about any tech product so its virtually as good as cash. Is there anyone on this board who has not bought something on the list since July 18, 2003?
Sorry if this is a repost but I did a search and didn't find anything. This is for California only:
Basically MS is giving vouchers good for cash for certain products purchased between 1995 and 2001. Here's the website to download your claim form and read the FAQ's:

Using Outlook Express - I can get incoming email at a free wifi location, but when I try to send email, I get error message "Relay access denied". I need to change my outgoing server - but what do I change it to? Help please.
They've been advertising these on TV for about 6 years.... people must be buying them... Anybody have one? Is it any good? Are you using it or is it a coatrack?
When I was looking into the laundromat business, I learned front loaders are much much more durable than top loaders. Top loaders have to be replaced every 5 years or so; whereas front loaders will last forever with proper maintenance.
So this is any 93-98 Supra? I am not modifying anything... my client is in Dubai and asked if I could find him one. I don't know what he plans to do with it.
The new Chevy SSR (half pickup, half roadster) also has a retractable hardtop... and it was sure attracting a lot of attention at the LA Auto Show yesterday.
I need a simple idiot-proof way to backup our main computer. CDR's don't hold much data and its a pain to remember to run the backup every day / week... I'm thinking a 2nd hard drive (on a RAID card) set up to mirror the main HD is the best way to go.
What's the best way to backup stuff?
I'm not sure if we need a firewall for such a small network (6 computers), but some users are plagued with ad-ware and spyware (not to mention spam). Just wondering if a firewall will protect us from that stuff? Any recommendations are appreciated.
OK, I'm a little past the video game stage; but my nephews love Playstation 2 and they especially love the driving type games. I'm thinking of getting them that steering wheel gizmo(s) for Xmas.
Are they worth it? Can you hook up 2 at a time for racing? Thanks for the help...
I've got a very good spam filter (SAProxy) that nails about 200 spams per day.
But a lot of the spam that gets thru has MY EMAIL ADDRESS in the return address (reply to:) field! How the hell do they do that and how can I filter these?
Bought tires at Sams Club once...
They installed the tires that I bought on someone else's car - so they had to re-install my tires and they gave the other guy better tires for whatever he paid... plus they gave me a discount for the hassle... I forget the price but it was a great deal and the...
We're off the 110 near Rosecrans. Tried to go outside to get my camera out of the car, but couldn't walk on the slippery hailstones... plus it was so flooded....
