Question What would cause DP to HDMI adapters to not work?

Found this comment inside a monoprice review for a DP to HDMI cable. Something to investigate anyway.... Before you buy, make sure your video source supports dual-mode DisplayPort (NOT just regular DisplayPort) and is compatible with PASSIVE adapters. I didn't do my research, and it didn't work.

Question Which Dell monitor to purchase?

I think the high frequency of some "gaming" monitors is so they can produce images beyond 60 FPS. If you are not gaming this feature is of questionable benefit. The "ultrasharp" Dell monitors are the ones to target if image quality, not gaming, is important. A larger screen might be the way...

How should I try to salvage this mower?

Clean it up, top off the oil, and keep going. You got nothing to lose at this point. Even if you needed a new engine that would be cheaper than a new mower.

Low mileage vehicle

I'd do it. Marine grade Sta-bil and go to the max dosage. The alcohol in the fuel absorbs moisture in the air and then the raw steel in the fuel tank and lines can rust from the inside. The Sta-bil is designed to ward against this sort of damage.

I went to my first self-service junkyard today.

When performing a restoration and needing parts I used to go every week. I'l leave the tools in the car and make a scouting trip walk through. If I found something I needed I'd go back to the car and and put on my jumpsuit and grab the bucket of tools. Ah, the good ol days.

JM presents himself as someone lacking knowledge. Adjusting valves isn't rocket science, but it does show some eptitude. Too bad that doesn't translate into him recognizing good mechanical advice from bad.

There is nothing visibly wrong with the motherboard, and I've installed a new power supply recently as well. The issues seem to be limited to the SATA drive control sub system. When booting the computer it will hang and not load the OS. Typically stalling out at the Windows 7 splash screen...

This pretty much sums it up. Boards are crazy expensive, but the i7 chip ain't worth jack.:( Wouldn't mind supporting AMD again. Someone's gotta do it. 90% of what I do on the computer is just normal office stuff and some occasional PDF creation/conversion. Thanks for the responses.

Is Quaker State full synthetic oil really complete crap?

Oil analysis often tips off things like head gaskets that are leaking, and fuel dilution issues related to fuel system problems. Regarding this oil, I'm sure it's perfectly good stuff. As an aside, Napa synthetic is on sale for about $3.50 a quart this month, and they have a $20 oil change...

Mower needs an oil change.....which weight?

Manual says 10W-40. I'd use 5W-40 Rotella synthetic. Available for cheap at Walmart. Diesel oil like this has about 40% more phosphorus and zinc (high pressure anti wear additives) than auto oil. Guys on Bob is the Oil guy forum LOVE their Rotella! Great oil for anything without a cat...

2012 Altima 'slipping' on hills?

Jatco makes the Nissan CVT. Nissan owns a good portion of Jatco. Don't think Subaru uses the Jatco CVT. Nissan owns a chunk of Subaru though (or at least used to). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Jatco_transmissions

System reboots at startup every time

Removed the memory and installed them onto the other slots again. System wouldn't boot. Book says the memory must be in the "white" slots so moved them back and now the system is working perfectly. Thought I moved the memory before but maybe not. Can't remember. At any rate, the suggestion...

SSD Asdata SSD OCZ Agility 3 WD 2TB and a smaller Maxtor that's old, but never let me down. Had a 1TB Samsung die (was almost full with movies and such):( Had a 750GB Segate die (not full but with all my photos) When the drive dies the system won't boot, even though it's not the boot drive...

Mazda 3 in an accident - can frame damage be fixed?

That car doesn't have a frame per say, rather it's a unibody type structure. It can be repaired, the question is cost. Needless to say, you need a reputable shop to do this kind of work since structural elements of the frame are involved. If repaired properly though, the car will be good to go.

Bought my kid some Steelseries Siberia V2 headphones and he loves them. Bought the frost blue model which seems to have better fidelity than some others they sell. The ear cups are a little small so if you have big ears they may not be ideal. They seem durable (hopefully), which is a factor...
