Good luck trying to find CDRW media that burns at 16x. The highest I've found is 10x.

I think he is talking about the ValueDisc 200 pack...at least that was what I was asking for...the CMC,Imation is just a guess made by the program...they wil probably burn at 48x without smartburn, but the you would get more errors and have slower\buggy readback when you try to use the disc.

The deal is still alive...at least it was when I called the 800 number an hour ago. I bought the drive but I am still holding out for the CD-Rs. Thanks for the suggestions everyone. I wasn't concerned about 200 being too many CDs, just too many if I could only burn them at 32x, I saw those...

Without errors or downshifting? You can reliably read them in from your other drives and it actually takes less than 3 mins to burn? Forgive my skepticism, but I don't want to buy 200 CD-Rs that can only be read in my burner. How many people are burning comfortably at 48x with these drives...

I am talking about the CD-Rs themselves...am I out of the loop on something here. Can you reliably burn at 48x on 16x or 32x rated CD-R?

Am I the only one dissapointed that these CDs are only rated at 16x or 32x? What is the point of buying a 48x burner if you can't get 48x CDs...at least for cheap...by the time I finish 200 CDs it will be time to buy a new burner! What speeds have you guys been able to burn at?

I don't think failure rates will increase significantly with the newer drives. The performance hit that you take with higher density disks is a higher access time (harder to seek thru that dense data) of course this is offset by higher transfer rates. If you don't care about transfer rates, I...

nonunique-- So are you saying you got it to work, are you running raid 0 now? so I assume your toatal capacity is about 150GB (the stupid hard drive manufactures messing with the system to make their drives semm bigger). Any special steps I should take?

Has anyone had any problems setting up a raid array of more than 120GB, I know that there are/were various maximum disk size restriction with older bioses and OSs, but I am running windows XP and have a K7T266 Pro2 motherboard. I know win XP should support up to 2 terabytes (32bit addressing)...

I know these cards are specifically designed for a Rackmount sytem (lp=low profile) and are therefore more expensive, but is there anything to stop it from working in a regular desktop system? Anybody ever seen it done? P.S. It comes with a regular bracket (I think you can interchange them)...
