Really? ran ok on my 4850 with a q9450 @1280x1024 - around 35fps but never felt unplayable or had any drops to 10fps. I know if I just upgraded my gpu it would be enough but I have people asking me if they just upgraded their gpu with a core 2 duo only would it be enough and I have no idea...

Windows 7 Server to be 'minor release'

Isnt the scary thing that if your regular windows user is stupid, then they are going to click YES when UAC informing them of malware/virus comes up anyways . They should definitely let you turn it off, but should also provide a more "scary" warning when it comes up

Does Windows Vista 64bit still have software compat problems?

^^ also 56k usb modem = no dice (if that kind of stuff is still useful to u still) I would also think if you have any niche products like wacom tablets or very early usb products, check carefully and be prepared to compromise I guess.

BadaBOOM Encoding

ATI has an equivalent solution - the avivo encoder but it suffers from the problem of not being fully developed. It only has 2 settings profile (divx,ipod etc) and bitrate. The quality is set to lowest just so ATI can impress us with blazing fast encode rates - it would really help if it...

BUMP - also is there a way to remove a suffix from a list of cells eg. Bill Gates MSFT turns into Bill Gates - I wont know the number of characters in the name, but I should know the number of characters that need to be deleted.

sorry to sound like a noob - but how do you know the stepping profiles are working properly? I might have set it up wrong but cpuz never reports a lower speed than 6x400 there is a cpu throttle clock but how do you know that profile currently engaged?

Ive always been reading that the hardcore overclockers never touch software tools that do the same and always stick to the bios. but for those that want to save power / lower noise wouldnt it be useful to have the cpu underclocked for general use and then overclocked when gaming / tasking...

got a ibm r50e and using cpuz checked that it has a 1.4ghz celeron M socket 479 cpu. however after checking on ebay 99% of potential upgrade cpu's are socket 478 (according to the intel spec finder site (after putting in the code) what gives? were there really few socket 479 cpu's around...
