xp crashes with pci.sys error

My CPU is not overclocked. Hell it's a Celeron 366 :( I did kinda figured out that the RAM is a bit faulty. When I was installing W95OSR2, it would randomly shut down, and then when I did the conditional startup, it dumped some memory. So I'll have the RAM tested and I'll post. Thanks anyways...

Hi ppl My XP Pro refuses to boot at home. The initial loading black & white bar appears and then "pci.sys missing or corrupted..run repair from ur cd..blah..blah" This is the second time this is happening this month. Last time around I just put back my hard disk image. I could do that even now...

menus in XP

Hi ppl I love the flast menus that you get when you use the visual styles in XP. However on switching back to classic theme, you get the kinda bevelled menus. Anyone know where and which colors to modify so that I can get the flat menu looks. TIA Mayuresh

The disply goes screwey. All my scroll bars now have some sort of design, all my photoshop windows have ugly dotted lines for their borders and while dragging any window it gets that same ugly dotted line. Matrox's site mentions that I stick to my default drivers. Anyone have an idea on how to...

WTF!! Image associations in XP

Why the hell can't i get AcDSee to open all my image files. Whatever i do, they will open only in that fragged up stupid MS image viewer. But if i open up a psd file, AcDSee opens up fine just coz that MS thing can't handle psd's. Guys any crack, patch, and reg hack to get rid of this thing...

hardware malfunction BSOD

hdd not shutting down properly..

i have a 366 celeron with 128megs... currently i'm running a tripple boot with winME,2k(sp2) and XP(build2462) everything works fine...but suddenly out of the blue (pun intended) while trying to boot 2k or Xp i get a blue screen error claiming that hardware malfunctio so earlier i used to just...

oh..sorry forgot to mention that earlier.. tried the previous known good congiguration....no use.. can i use the Recovery Console...i had read somewhere that the Recovery onsole acn be used when 2k starts misbehaving...but io never managed to figure out how.... Thanks anyways Mayuresh

till yesterday there ws absolutley no problem...2k booted and worked flawlessly... but i come in in the morning and BAM...just comes and waits at "starting your computer ..." whatever screen.. tried power offs...everything...checked if all my hardware was connected properly.. no success i did...

freaky ie 6 problem

till last night everything was fine on my p2 300, 196 mb 2k with ie6 now in the morning ie takes about 30 secs to open a window...before it was under 2 secs(i think...) now also when i go to a page with a form/login field etc...i can type into the first field..but if i press tab, or click on...

DUAL/TRIPLE OS BOOT: I need some *basic* help.

here's what i did for my 40gig first installed 98 on my first 2 gb partition then thru 9..just pop in your 2k cd and when i autoruns say no to upgrade your os. Tell him to install a brand new os... when he reboots your boot menu will be ready with 98 and 2k..... just read each screen...

friggin win2k blue screens

hi... i keep getting these "Hardware Malfunction....." kinda blue screens on startup. Does'nt happen everytime, but once every 2-3 days. This is used to happen alot when i used to connect/remove my spare hdd.....so i've stopped changing anything as far as 2k is concerned. Any hardware changes...

Is there a way to recover files after format? Snif... snif....

first thing to do is make sure u do nat use that hdd. disconnect it and keep it aside. Then download powerquest's lost & found. it's damm easy and very powerful. I personally don't like ontrack's easy recovery. Also recover the data on a separate hdd. Also, just ensure that the damaged...

WinXP doesn't work with Ghost??

why don't you try using the dos version of ghost.. just boot of a 95/98/me disk, and run the exe... should'nt give a problem..and besides it'll be faster(i think).. Mayuresh
