Sorry I left everyone hanging. Since the project kind of petered out with little fanfare, I didn't make a big deal out of it and didn't bother taking good photos or anything. But I've been using the case daily for a long time now. Here are some pics (dark, sorry):

Unfortunately I've had a number of stumbling blocks and my motivation has taken a beating.
I got the design working reasonably well, shortly after which Ponoko discontinued the 5.2mm bamboo I was using. I was then forced to either choose the 2.7mm bamboo ply, which is slightly more expensive...
A peak of 60C is really nothing to spend money on "fixing" unless it is causing other problems, like excessive noise or limiting overclocking, neither of which you mention as issues.
I've considered that too. But where are the people who grew up playing FFX? I never see them anywhere. Is there some sort of generation gap that keeps me from frequenting the same discussion sites as them? Or have console RPGs objectively gone into decline?
Probably Xenogears.
FF6, FF7, and Chrono Trigger tie for second place.
I'm playing FF7 on PSP now. I'm so pissed that a bunch of Square PSX RPGs got released on PSP in Japan but not in the US.
I also really liked Saga Frontier II. I seem to be alone in this.
What's the deal with CRPGs...
Are these contiguous or scattered writes? That will make all the difference. The SSD will probably only be a dramatic improvement if they are scattered writes.
I can't turn the drives like that because the CPU cooler is in the way.
And even if I increased the thickness of the case to make it work, right angle cables still won't fit because the right angle runs into the wood, not into the inner space. (The drive bottoms are facing the outside of the...
Version 3 should arrive in the mail soon. It only had a few tweaks to the tabs/slots to make them less prone to breakage when they go against the grain.
Here is an image of it, sans front panel (which hasn't really changed):
The hard drives are definitely tight, and right angle cables are a...
Interesting comparison, though it's worth noting that the NT07-AM2 is completely different from the 775/1156 versions.
I really wish the Gelid had a 1156 version.
Yeah but once you add a 10mm fan it'll be the same thickness as the Silverstone and probably won't be nearly as effective (it is designed for servers with lots of very loud fans). Add a regular 25mm fan and it'll be 50mm which is even bigger than the stock cooler.
Yes the stock i3 cooler is...
No, it definitely is. I've removed it myself. Sorry the pics suck. Here is Molex's page for PicoBlade and it looks just like it (different number of pins though): http://www.molex.com/molex/products/family?key=picoblade&channel=products&chanName=family&pageTitle=Introduction
Looks like the...
Okay, I *think* it's a Molex PicoBlade. Unfortunately that doesn't help me much, as it's no cheaper to buy them from suppliers (that I can find them on) than it is to buy the PicoPSU cable and cannibalize it.
They are smaller than floppy connectors.
Here's another picture:

I'm having trouble finding good clear shots of the connector.
In the upper right corner here. And another view of one with nothing plugged in here.
These connectors are what the hard drive power wires plug into. I am considering making my own short cable that would just have two SATA plugs, since they don't sell such a thing, but I have no idea what...
I hate to be a nanny, but make sure you are backing up those drives to some sort of external drive too. Hard drive failures are inevitable, and you don't want to lose years' worth of family photos and movies...
I think the core issue here is: poor people are disproportionately dirty, have drug problems, and behave badly. Most middle class people are isolated from the poor and don't have to confront any of this on a regular basis.
The picture in the OP seems a bit sensationalist though. I can't imagine hypodermic needles are a common sight on Toronto trains and buses. I ride public transit in Portland every day and have never seen anything nearly that bad, and certainly not on a regular basis.
I believe those Scandinavian have much lower disparity between rich and poor and generally have fewer poor people. Europe in general also generally uses public transit more than North America, meaning that since more middle class people use it, it's not as overwhelmed by the poor (including...
You can use shared objects for that.
Okay, but that's a small niche. I would never say that no one should compile anything. The share of MySQL users who are 1) running on an obscure architecture, 2) need to squeeze out every last drop of performance, and 3) are willing to do the benchmarking...
Settings? If it has to be changed at compile time, that's not really a setting... if it were such a useful thing to change, it would probably be changeable at runtime.
Can you give some concrete of examples of compile-time settings one would want to change for MySQL?
It's about 85F in here and after about 20 minutes of burn-in, CPU temps maxed out at 53C with the fan at ~2000RPM (max is ~3000), with stock heatsink and no case fans at all. Seems pretty decent to me! Unfortunately I couldn't really guage how loud the CPU fan was because we have fans running...
The router only pulls as much current (amps) as it needs. If the power supply can supply more amps than are needed, that's no problem whatsoever. It's actually good to have some headroom so that the power supply isn't working too hard.
If the voltage of the power supply was too high, however...
It would vary between people based on a lot of factors, but a lazy googling yields 40% (overall) as a rough estimate.
But those taxes pay for the roads you drive on and the military force that secures the fuel to power your car, and some of the medical costs for the people harmed by air...
