I want to run two Maxtor 80 GB hard drives together as RAID 1. One has an 8MB cache, and the other only has a 2 MB cache. Will I lose performance from the one with the 8 MB cache?
Would it be better to just put them on RAID 0 and do nightly backups of my important information to a third...
Does anybody know if anybody makes these? The 40mm fan on my motherboard in *really* loud, and I have a Vantec Stealth 60mm fan that I bought by accident.
I see 60 to 80mm fan adapters all over the place, but I can't seem to find a 40 to 60. Any suggestions?

I'm looking to add more drives to my computer, by way of an IDE controller. I remember reading that even the newest DVD and CD-RW drives are slower than ATA66. Is this true? If so, do I need to buy an ATA100 or ATA133?
Thanks,
PhylloDo
I have an Athlon XP 1900+ runningwith an Asus K7V33 mobo. The fan that came in the retail cpu case is *way* too loud for me. I'm looking for something very quiet (it's in my bedroom). Someone suggested the SVC GC 68. I'd like to go with the Nidec stealth fan, but the webpage seems to imply...
Is it just me, or is this thing *really* loud? It makes more noise than my PS, my two chassis fans, and my other computer combined.
Anybody know of a way to either slow it down, or (safely) find a quieter fan?
When you buy just a case that says it has front USB, does this mean only USB 1.1? Would USB 2.0 depend on your motherboard, or do the connectors have to support it as well?
Spam Motel is great. It's a very small .exe file that I have on my desktop. I gave it a keyboard shorcut, so whenever I need a new e-mail address, I hit 3 keys and it pops up. I select my account, give it a name, and click a button. It automatically copies the new address to the clipboard...
Recently, I've begun to get the following error messages when I try to edit,

I searched the Knowledge Base and only found article Q246183. I tried the...

BTW, one thing you must know about this particular unit is that if you want it to automatically shut down your system while unattended, then you must purchase a "simple signal" serial cable. No, it is not a regular serial cable; it is a "special" one and costs a bundle if you can find it. >>...
Oh it's old all right. Compaq and Matsushita are the only names that I can recognize. Manufactured in January 1996.
I tried it with another CD drive and it worked. Although I'm having problems installing Windows now.
That's what you get for leaving a project until the last minute...
When I boot to my floppy, I get a message:
Device driver not found: "MSCD001'.
No valid CDROM device drivers selected.
The drive works fine in Win 98. I can't get into the BIOS.
I'm trying to format the drive and reinstall Windows
Thanks,
PhylloDo.

thanx for the heads up!

That's Homer's quote. Not Ralph's.
Yibbley meant that he wants to change the "Install to" Directory to the E drive. So that when he installs a new program, it will automatically go to E:\Program Files.....
And don't ask me why he wanted Windows on a drive other than C: ---- That's what he wanted, so I did it for him.
Same place:
C:\Documents and Settings\{USERNAME}\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\{A BUNCH OF LETTERS}\Microsoft\Outlook Express
If Windows is on a different drive replace c: with the drive letter.
