    Microsoft XP and 2000 come with the required settings. DMZ or your firewall may allow incoming VPN connections it uses port 445 I believe. Check on the net.

    DLink 704P - I have been running Zone Alarms behind it and nothing and I mean nothing can get through - right out of the box - no configurations it is pretty easy to administer and set up. I have had friends try to hack in and they can not grc.com's sheilds up can't even detect anything.

    Take the router, and get a firewall installed on it. Hub everything your computer gets, hers will too - and vice versa, therefore the router will prove better pings and what not.

    HTTP 1.1 says that you only connect one connection to each server, without out 1.1 checked in IE, and the speed tweak put down there you are sending up to 20 requests to one server, putting strain on the server - the reality is though it does nothing 'bad' just slows down other people.
