Go with the nForce2 chipset. Its the leader in performance and
offers some nice ammeneties, like firewire(400Mbps btw), usb2.0(480Mbps)
very good onboard audio (MCP-T)version and is reported very stable as well.
The Asus A7N8X deluxe is probably the top choice motherboard now, but i agree
with...
Thanks for the thought Czroe, hehe it might be just as long till i get
mine working again. Come to think of it i dont really need the cd image.
I'm sure the file is simply written on there and can't be more than 10mb?

Tried them, unfortunately that didn't work. Appearantly they are version 4.1 while the version
that is bundled with the mouse is 4.9. Blast MS for not putting them online @#$#!!!! what a pain
in my @$$.

hehe thanks. I've been looking everywhere and no luck so far. I'm surfin boards to find someone who owns one and i
figured i'd start at the best one first.

Awesome post cow dog. I have that motherboard and a 2200+ and since my AT7 is giving me
problems with my sound I might have to switch over to that. Could you email me the bios ?
My email is in my profile.

I experience the most annoying load times now that i've installed xp on my raid 0 array. I have two IBM 60GXP deskstars running on an Abit AT7
using the Highpoint 374 chip. I had a difficult time initially getting XP to run my hdd's at UDMA mode 5 so i tried putting the hdd's in raid for a...
Hi,
I've noticed since my last clean install that both my hard drives, one an IBM 60gxp 40gb, and the other a WD 40gb BB drive are showing up in pio mode even though i've tried setting them to the "dma if available" option under the primary ide channel. I've tried uninstalling the primary ide...
Hi guys,
To begin with the error i recieve deals with the tbcspud.sys driver in windows. This is the driver/file identified as causing the error by winXP.
I installed Slackware 8.1 and tried using the OSS (linux open sound system) to get my santa cruz working instead of compiling support
for...
Hi,
From my knowledge this sound card is natively supported in the 2.4+ linux kernels under the crystal sound chip that it implements. I was able to get it working using oss (open sound systems) however I've just now run into some problems with the card in windows and am not sure what the exact...
Hi,
I just got the AT7 and a new 2200XP... they dont' want to work. Haven't tried much so far, I was wondering if anyone knew what to try. I suppose my first bid is to get a working system using my duron 850 then try a bios update. Let me know if you can help me out.

I'll jump onthe XP bandwagon as well as say that the 8500 is a better choice than the 7500. I've not encountered an problems with my radeon in winXP, though i'd reccomend using drivers prior to the catylist drivers. Also you could try skinning windows to get a Mac OSX feel, checkout...
I'm not a huge audio guru but here's my two cents. Having had both cards the Santa Cruz never once locked up my system, which the Audigy has and does so in games(VIA chipset conflict). Outside of that the audigy causes no problems and the firewire port is especially nice to have with an iPod. As...
Hey dwell, I've got that very keyboard, why cuz i looks so damn cool and has a great touch and wonderful key response. I've got it working in XP on my PC.
Windows detects it automagically. The only thing is you can't use the cd eject, but the volume up and down as well as the mute buttons work...
I'd recommend ASUS. Dunno whether its luck or quality but i've goughed, not nicked, GOUGHED! my Asus A7M in a couple of places and its still ticking. In comparison i nicked my epox board and had to RMA it immediately. Check out www.lostcircuits.com for some fact based reviews of the Asus, Soyo...
I'm trying to eventually setup a linux proxy box that i'm going to send my windows box through, however I can't get slack to recognize both nic's. It does recognize both nic's individually. I've tried editing some of the module scripts but get nothing, and i'm not sure what to do with the alias...
I was wondering if i could do
linux NIC ---[Hub/Switch]-----Internet
| |
winXP NIC----------|
where the winXP box loops through the linux box through the hub. It seemed like this might be possible because windows is able to go
through the switch and find the...
Hi,
I've been searching around on howto setup linux as a proxy server. I'm on a college network where we can only register one mac address and i have a linux box that i'm hoping to make into a proxy for my winXP system. I'm running slackware 8 on the linux box. I'm pretty much a newbie btw...
I have slackware running on the same hdd as XP. Lilo managed to install itself correctly somehow, i'm not sure. I tried copying the bootsector from linux and putting it on the main hdd. You could try the same. in linux use the comand:
dd if=/dev/hdX of=/etc/bootsect.lnx bs=1 count=512
that...
Does anyone know how to replace the V-RAM on this card or does anyone know where to go to get this done? Better yet can someone
do this for me? I managed to nick it with a screw driver somehow and can see one fairly deep scratch. I believe its just the RAM chip that's damaged as the card...
hehe. No its more like a monitor out of sync grey haze (decent sony GDM 400PS) and nothing works at all. only way to get the system to respond is to hard restart.
No such luck. Monitor when turned back on, displayed the same grayish nothingness.
I'm assuming it was a hard lock since i couldn't even get my keybd led's to light. and had to restart.
I got my mouse to work. I will try what you said about the monitor. I tried XFree86 -config again and
while this time the mouse worked the monitor actually went from black/blank to an off centered gray nothingness,
however it didn't go off so i assume its doing something with my video card. so...
I'm running the slackware 8 distro kernel 2.4.5 on an Asus A7M Athlon 1.33.
When i try <XFree86 -configure> i get an error saying that there was no mouse detected.
I've tried both the ps/2 and usb connection neither seem to work. This however is not the main
problem. When i try running...
I've played around with my PCI cards only an NIC and the TB Santa Cruz. Whenever WinXP detects and trys to install drivers for my TB my computer
restarts and upon entering winXP it trys to detect and install TB card again and restarts this continues ad infinitum. This also happened when i had...
