To the best of my knowledge Hyundai owns Kia and Daewoo is going to file for bankruptcy (in which GM is going to help buy them out) but I would first look at a hundai in that price range, they have been around longer and also have a great warranty.

if you are just going to "backpack" around and explore stay @ hostels the price is less than $10.00 a night just bring a sleeping bag. I spent 4 months in Europe and did this and it was alot of fun, meeting new people and having a great time!!!:D
