    I posted a question on the Directron forum asking about compatability. They responded (very promptly for a weekend!) saying "The Gateway specs don't show anything odd about it to indicate it would have problems with modern DVI cards." This does not help us much, I'm afraid.

    want to play dvd's on tv, but macrovision

    Don't get a videocard, get a hollywood + dvd decoder card. They're cheap, do a great job of playing dvds, and there's an easily available program called "Zone Selector" that eliminates macrovision.
