I think it comes down to sempatics and some wording issues. I understand what you guys are saying. But just to clarify, there are plenty of guys running a 3200 on that board. The board supports 200 x 2 = 400 dual channel. The board is approved for the XP-3200. I understand its not an ideal...

I just read it and it seems to say just the opposite to me. " The NF7-S v2.0 is the latest revision of the motherboard. The latest revision has all of the features of the v1.2 but added Barton 400 MHz FSB support by using the Crush 18D chip

Help with older mobo

Say guys, I'm running an older abit board: Abit NF7-S r.2.0. I currenlty run a XP 2600+ Barton rated to run at 333MHZ bus speed. I want to throw the best socket A CPU into it that I can which is the 3200 Barton for my older AGP system. Problelm is this new CPU is rated to run at 400MHZ bus...

That card is bad to the bone dude but, you know its going ot cost a fortune and thats where it gets tricky. how much can you justify investing in an older AGP set up? Mike

Looks to me like the 1950 is way better than a 2600 in specs BUT, the 1950PRO is DX9 if that matters to you. To me, I dont care about DX10 until I redo my whole system and go Vista. Until then, I like being able to play all my old games like, Hitman, Halflife,Max Payne, etc. There is a link in...

Why not the 1950 Pro. Is it because the 3850 and 2600 are DX10 compliant?

Good point but I have tons of money in my current system and would like to get another year out of it and be able to play as many high end games as possible Right now the newest games I have are Kane and Lynch and Blacksite area 51. mike

I don't know either but the KT-600 sounds exactly like what I have been waiting for. And since Asus announced that their version of the KT-400A mobo will have a locked PCI/AGP bus, VIA is a lot more exciting to me. The 600 can only be better. Since the Socket A is near the end of its evolution...

well yes but VIA will have to do something to get the official 400mhz FSB support. It is clear that we will be seeing Bartons with 400mhz FSB. I can't imagine VIA will not want a piece of that market. mike

The only issue I see is the Asus board you reference uses the older 8235 Southbridge. The 8237 Southbridge would be a better choice and will be out any time now. I would wait for a chipset that included the 8237 if I were buying a VIA KT-400A mobo. Mike

I would not discount the 400A chipset just because it doesn't have dual DDR support. It has been clearly demonstrated that the updated memory controller in this chipset is vastly improved and runs right with the Dual DDR controller of the NF2. Lets face it. If you use the integrated graphics...
