Yeah, I'm about to do the same. Mainly to reduce noise. I doesn't make sense why they do that. The least the could is have more open space than metal, but most of the time there is twice as much air flow blocked than allowed. Yours are really bad though.

but if you already have it and it works why would you want to buy a new one? Also, if its on ISA then your not neccessarily going to find one that works better on PCI. Aslong as what you have fits your needs. If its on ISA then it doesn't really need to be on PCI to work well.
My heatsink is about 57x82 and it fits comfortably. The bottom of the SLK-800 is only 57.5x56.4 and the top is 87x56.4 and by looking at the orientation of the socket in my K7S5A, the direction in which the heatsing flares, there is nothing in its way.

yep, either by keeping the resivior and radiator in a small fridge or using phase-change (refridgeration compressor) with the evaporator submerged in the resivior.

Um, did you guys not read this? Its obvious he's not talking about actually using stanless steel. He just likes the look of it. Also it shouldn't be any worse than a normal steel case as long as you have good airflow.
