CllSr can't make it but Kilowatt and I are still discussing it. About 475 miles from Des Moines and that means closing up his shop pretty early on Friday, being closed on Saturday and leaving by noon on Sunday. For us self-employed types that gets to be a big deal. We will let you know soon...

Where can I get DSL modem?

I found this company http://www.pulsewan.com/about.htm with some for sale and a search on www.pricewatch.com for dsl modems gave me 5 pages of stuff. I think you might just be able to buy a DSL modem in the states JackMDS.

Manually assigning IP address instead of using DHCP..

You might want to poke around on this site too http://www.practicallynetworked.com/support/linksys_router_help.htm It has been a while since I messed with a Linksys, but my first experience over a year ago I had a lot of trouble using static IPs. Be sure you have an updated firmware.

Some easy questions for the networking gurus...

I'd research your modem and find out what it can do (make sure it isn't a router too). Ask your wireless provider. If you need a router be sure to check with them about incompatibilities with routers. I'd recommend a NAT router. If your modem is a NAT too, your provider should be able to...

Need Help Wtih RJ-45...

So your plugging 2 devices into a hub, the single port side of this jig is for the hub connection (just getting a picture here). Don't know if that will work or not, never tried that or read anything that said. I would have to look at what a hub really does with traffic. Maybe if you used...

Laptop with WinXP wont work with cable modem.

I take it from what you said you getting an IP automatically from your ISP (AT&T). Your problem is the computer name. It has to be that c1234567-a.bla.bla.home. The problem with the DSL at the brothers house depends on how he is connecting. If it is through a firewall (NAT or otherwise) then...

Anyone tell me what network blackjack is?

I did find it in a port list too, but didn't really understand "what" is is. I'm not running pal-talk and I don't play blackjack on the net. port 1025 is the first port available for programs to use, maybe it is refered to as blackjack? I can't seem to track it down to any running program...

VPN problem between same internal IP address servers?

I don't know much about ISA server but I do a lot of VPN work between sites using 2K server (RAS) and other hardware VPN devices. I'm sure your problem has to do with configuration so here is a link I found that might help: ISA Inbound VPN Config You should check log files to see what error...

Is the network browsable? Can you ping each PC from the other? What protocol does the game use? What protocol(s) do you have installed? On the 98 box, if you have more than one protocol installed, which one is set to be the default? Need more info to go with. .(MW)

Help with PProxy on Win2K pro

I would make sure you have all the fixes/patches installed. If you haven't used Microsofts new HFNETCHK tool, get it here HFNETCHK Tooland see if you are missing anything. Your problems may be application specific but sound like typical Internet hacking attempts which cause these exact symptoms...
