Another pathetic plea for help...with my modem

My system has stopped recognizing my modem. I think it used to be on COM 3, and now my system only lists COM 1 and 2. I've tried different modem cards, and it still won't come up in either plug & play auto detect or by trying to install it manually. I'm running XP Pro, 1.4 GHz Athlon, ECS...

Only 2 Gigs....

I just put an old 8.4 GB IBM Deskstar IDE drive in my son's 900MB Duron and tried to put Win XP Pro on it. Windows and my hardware recognize this as a 2.0 GB drive, and I don't have room for much besides the OS now, which keeps my son from playing Diablo 2. This drive was originally formatted...

Western Digital vs IBM Hard Drives

My last two drives have been IBMs, and they've worked very well for me so far. (I've only had my 60GXP for a few weeks, but my other is over three years old.) My WD drives were never this reliable; I had three of those "take a vacation" on me.

Monitor 19 inch RECOMMENDATIONS (why does my subject keep changing to '19' ??????!?!?!)

MallowJr, He got it at Best Buy (he needed to take it home the same day), for $319 with a $40 manufacturer rebate. This is the price currently advertised on their website here

DirectX 8.0

Got a new MB and HDD and installed DirectX 8.0. I then installed my Radeon drivers, and I keep getting error messages about the "ddhelp" file. Any ideas? I'm running Win98SE.

I haven't had any luck hitting the Promise website. I'm researching controllers and haven't been able to get there? Any ideas?
