I would assume so since VRR is part of the HDMI spec. It would be very lame to have HDMI 2.1 on boxes and not have one of the highlight features. Scorpio will have HDMI 2.1 and VRR support so hopefully Vega will have that enabled via drivers once spec is finalized.

Agree with this. Nice thing about G-Sync, it does future proof your Gpu much longer than without it. I have Titan X Maxwell and really haven't felt the need to upgrade with PG278Q 1440p monitor. The original Titan I felt the performance drop once newer games dropped.

You won't see a difference with (Freesync on and Vsync on/off), that's the point. Now if you do (Freesync on/off and Vsync on) you'll see small stutters with (especially at high FPS like 60) Freesync off. Now repeat with (Freesync on/off and Vsync off), you'll see tearing with Freesync off.

Definitely looks like Freesync works on non-FS branded LCD monitors based on Toasty X videos. Looks like FS branded monitors are tested for supported VRR range for EDID or monitor inf file and possibly tuned overdrive settings like Despoiler says. I think this also answers my question whether...

Ah that would explain the occasional hitches I see with Freesync and G-Sync on FH3. Adaptive sync works wonders, but will still stutter when CPU is stressed at 100%. In those cases I use a frame limiter to keep cpu below 100% and FSync\Gsync shines again.

I agree game runs great (4790k, RX 480, 1440p 70hz FS). Running Mix of high and Ultra settings with 4xAA @ 1440p and rarely dip below 60fps and looks smooth. Smooth FPS is probably there without Freesync as looks like the game has triple buffer or triple buffer like smoothing algorithm...

R9 290X Increasingly Problematic

The capacitors on good PSUs these days are pretty huge so will take a bit before all the power is gone. The fans and board will use the residual power quick so they should of turned off in a few seconds. The weird part is why the connecting the DP will cause a power on sequence.

You should be fine. I just ran kill-a-watt on oc'd 6700k@4.7 and oc'd 480 (1325/2100) using Crysis 3 and max was 305w, usually below 300w. This was on 1000w 80Gold+ PSU, but take away overclocks and should be same usage.
