ive tried fan control with MSI, riva tuner and CCC none of them can control the fan speed.
id prefer not to move everything into another case. im in a bit of a bind here.
i may try and swap this pc out for an hp workstation or something that has two pci-e slots and thats a simple solution
oh sorry reading this thread i see ive given the impression that i have a broken card.
my card works fine. it was just moved from a louder environment where the noise wasnt an issue to my office where noise is an issue.
i may just switch machines or find a way to make do with 2x dvi.
thanks guys!
of the cards durvelle posted above i think the following
1) firepro doesnt support 2560 x 1600
2) gtx 560 has only 1 dvi-i the rest arent capable of dual link reso
3) i have this 4670 x2
4) not sure if this card is any quieter than what i have plus, does mini hdmi support 2560 x 1600? could i...
i dont game. its for a workstation. i dont need powerful gpus at all. it will for remote desktop. so really no lifting done with the card.
i only have a single PCI-E slot.
i have dell u3011s and they only have 1 dp and 2 dvi. i run a different computer into the dp inputs so i only have dvi as...
Most of the ones i see arent rated to 2560 x 1600 and the one i have 4670 x2 is super loud.
I cant seem to find a replacement cooler for the x2 set up either.
I also cant control the fan speed~!
thanks.
thanks for all the tips guys.
i do have cat 5e running from location 1 to location 2. the thing is i want the wireless at both spots.
how does my device choose which network to use? i want to make sure its always on the strongest signal even tho they have the same name.
so i should be able to plug my second router in and follow the above instructions?
i would be plugging it into a switch at the second location.
how do i configure the wifi?
would i need to make it all the same as the original wireless router?
security wise network name?
thanks
i have a condo wired for data.
i have one wireless router currently attached to my cable modem.
this is then run into the switch and connected to the rest of the condo.
i get a weak/intermittent wireless signal on the other side of the condo. i do have a network jack there.
what i...
thanks for all the suggestions. for the integrated graphics tho i will have to change.
i need to drive 2 - 4 screens 2560 x 1600.
still leaning towards either fanless psu or the x650.
govorg makes a good point that the lower wattage psu will kick on earlier.
thanks guys.
may also switch to...
i saw that antec solo with the suspension mounting. i was considering that case. why did you pick it? anand gave it mixed reviews.
can you hear your system under load? im hoping that with the noctua cpu and a fanless gpu the loudest thing in my case will be the mechanical drives and the cpu...
id like to keep all components from the same vendor (newegg). i was planning on running the noctua in ultra low noise mode.
will not be overclocking at all.
good point on the mobo.
i do like the idea of no fan tho.
what can i hear? 20 DBA? i think the noctua runs 13 DBA in ultra low
1. What YOUR PC will be used for. That means what types of tasks you'll be performing.
Im looking to build a silent pc. Budget is flexible. Silent is important. Will be in a bedroom.
Machine is not for gaming. More of a workstation.
I already have the fanless fireGL that will be in the...
you are right its the shared display port that cannot run anything higher than 1920 x 1080
but that doesnt seem correct. the card should be able to drive 4x 2560 x 1600
is this a hardware limitation or am i missing a set up thing?
thanks.
i didnt check this thread till just now. i should have earlier =P
i turned on 1:1 pixel mapping that helped a lot.
vlc still had tearing. i have aero themes off.
the best so far tho is MPC HC to the point where i will call this resolved!
what i still cannot get used to tho is the LED LCD...
i have an asus 6970 eyefinity 6 card and im having trouble running 5 displays on it. the card is brand new. so ive never had a working set up.

i have a machine with 2x 6870 in xfire.
i have 4 mini displayport to displayport dongles connected.

im driving 4x dell u3011.
i cant get 4x screens working with xfire enabled.
if i enable xfire only 2 of the...
thanks.
seems to fix it for the resolution.
i still get some tearing on 720p playback.
havent test too many different sources yet.
but 1080p 60hz is the best. (fewest tears)
thanks.
i disabled aero and i set the display to 60 hz 1080p i have to run a custom resolution because the 1920 x 1200 native display doenst fit a maximized window correctly.
isnt this also odd?
im running hdmi out to hdmi in.
thanks for any help.
i will try to update the drivers later today.
i shrunk the picture by selecting the TV under HDTV options. the same place where you were able to set the hdtv mode to 1080p24.
i think you hit apply or something to select a custom resolution. it has on screen directions.
i downloaded the...
Im running an LED LCD TV off my HDMI out from a radeon 6870.
Im using CCC to shrink the screen slightly to make it fit on the LED TV.
Running netflix or 1080p content I get tearing on the picture. I get abrupt transitions and overall a number of visual issues I dont get running the same...
ive used the workstation cards before but theyre expensive.
id rather run a gaming card or two in xfire they can drive the 30s and theyre cheaper.
i like the 6 mini dp card from power cooler but i cant find it anywhere. it may not be shipping yet.
even tho the 6870s are 1 gb the benchmarks at...
thanks for the info guys.
i think i may just get the triple slot 6970 from asus and call it a day.
im a trader so i need the desktop space but id also like to game on a single screen.
the single 6970 should cover it right?
thanks.
i want to run 2x mini dp and 2x dvi at 2560 x 1600 to drive 4x dell U3011s.
i know asus has a 4x dp 6950/70 but id like to avoid it if possible as its 3 pci slots wide.
my plan is to buy a reference 6950 unlock and run all 4 monitors if possible.
later i would possibly add in a second...
im looking to spend $300 on a ssd solution. i think i have a few different options in terms of next gen drives but the vertex 3 seems to be the best choice.
so i can get a 128gb vertex 3 for $300 or 2x 64 gb 2nd gen drives like c300s or g2s.
i know about lack of trim on raid discs.
it just...
Im installing my 850hx and it has a 8-Pin EPS 12V. It also has 8-pin PCI-E connections.
It is my understanding I dont use the EPS 12V for anything other than motherboard connections?
It fits the 8 pin slot in my GPUs but i wanted to make sure that I cant use it for that.
thanks.
