Is Asus the only board that works with AMD Dual cores?

QuadDamage mentioned using the the x2 4800+ with the Abit Fatal1ty mobo, but also stated that the Asus mobo was the only one that worked properly currently. AMD X2 2706mhz @ 1.3V and Stock Cooled

They used the same graphics drivers in This Review. I'll just have to assume that the core & clock were the same between the AGP and PCI-E versions of the 6800 Ultras.

Since the opinion of many (notably Zebo whom i have great respect for ;) )...

Dual Core 4400+ is a good deal!

Provided that the performance is similar to that of the Dual Core Opterons, the price is actually Too Good. Add Overclocking Capability, and Non Registered RAM running @ 2-2-2 (1T) to the mix, and it will De-Value many other processors.

Pentium M with Asus 478 adapter is very impressive.

Asus now has a new bios for the P4C800-E Deluxe. Legit Reviews got their CPU up to 220MHz FSB, and the mobo has a [4:5] memory ratio, so overclockers will just have to find the sweet spot.

LOL, I forget that many Dothan Overclockers are running notebooks. Now when they release the 915 based mobos, I can add DDR1 vs DDR2, and Dual Channel vs Single channel testing to the list.

Yeah WinRar is a good one. Many low resolution TimeDemos should also show you where maximum performance lies. Frequency vs FSB vs memory timings & asynchronous ratios.

Well... Here's the Competition including higher clocked 533MHz FSB parts. They have a few LV/ULV models as well. Of Course the Older 400MHz Dothans have done quite well for CPUs launched in May of 2004.

I Posted that article HERE on 06/01/2004. I was also looking for other CPU/GPU scaling articles, but they're hard to find. Most end up leaving out quality settings with AA/AF, which is why I linked the the firing Squad review.

They Don't. That's why I'm surprised that review sites still even bother posting such results. Timedemo results are bad enough without the AI/Physics overhead, and running them at low resolution is even less representative of real word game play.

You can try something like This Mod from Overclockers. The stock heatsink without ducting performs poorly: Keeping that hot CPU running Cool and Quiet Without a duct, even Brute Force air cooling won't do much good if you're recirculating hot air to the CPU.

AMD now producing 2.0 Ghz SOI processors.

Agreed, however... The Opteron seems to be of the same stock as the upcoming Desktop Version of this CPU. Seems like the performance of Opteron might be a nice prelude to the performance of the Socket 940 FX-51 (Or whatever it's called)
