If you don't have an Elite version of the 360 that has HDMI out it won't do a full 1080p unless if you are using the VGA connection.
Component cables can only go up to 1080i for the HD DVD player unfortunately :(

The box set of HD-DVD Heroes is still nice though. You do get King Kong with it and you also get that 5 HD DVD offer as well.
Open up a terminal and type
sudo /etc/init.d/networking restart
That should restart your network services and it should pull a new or update your IP from your router without rebooting your entire box.
I've had the same issue with 2 drives I transfered to another machine as well. Same message of it not formatted. No option to import either. Have you been able to extract any data from the old drive with any alternative methods?

IIRC Windows XP Home edition only supports 1 processor. I've never used Home edition so I'm not sure if that pertains to or effects dual core processors.
