Think I'm going to go for the BenQ. Plenty of professional reviews on it, and it seems to be well liked. If I gamed more on PC, I'd probably go up to the alienware, but the BenQ seems like a better choice for "mostly work, occasional game." I'm more a console player for fast paced stuff.
Been looking at an ultrawide for work and occasional gaming (the only FPS I've played on PC is Destiny 2; I'm mostly a console person). I've found two monitors that seem to be basically the same price, but I can't figure out which would be better. They're both 34" 21:9 3440x1440 and 5 ms...
Can't even reformat the drives in Windows 10 (tried it with one, just to see what would happen). Sounds like this isn't an isolated issue:

So, in seeing what other systems I had laying around, I found an old netbook running Win7 Starter; it can open the drive just fine, but Win7 starter can't undo bitlocker. Looks like I may be trying to put Windows 8 on something I have laying around just to undo the bitlocker, then re-do it in...
I have two external drives I rotate as backup drives. Both are encrypted with BitLocker, and both worked fine in Windows 8.1. Since the upgrade to Windows 10 Pro, I can't access either one.
In "This PC," they both appear as a drive, they have the unlocked padlock and note as a "BitLocker"...
Working on helping my wife upgrade her business website. This is the current setup.
Host A has business.com
Host B has blog.business.com (self hosted wordpress based site)
We're migrating her entire presence off Host A. The whole new site will be built off wordpress and be importing all...
I almost feel silly posting this, but there has to be an easy answer.
My parents had a programmable doorbell. It died, they replaced with the iChime (see manual: http://www.ichime.com/iChimeManual.pdf for reference). It had two extra speakers (maybe three...there's one outside at the front...
It looks like one of the clips had come loose and didnt want to re-attach. That is one of the disadvantages of the cheap plastic clips on the intel stock cooler.
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk which is probably the reason for the typos
Thanks for the idea (to all who mentioned clips), and I will test/report back once I'm home this evening.

So, was working at my desktop the other night, and it BSODed with a warning about CPU heat. I've been monitoring since.
To me, 60C idle and 100C max seems high...extremely high. This rig hasn't had a heat issue since it was built in 2008 (including before and after a case swap in...
M0RPH - Good catch on the combo deal; it wasn't there when I looked at some of those numbers about a week ago. I am wondering if I should wait for Lynnfield (I'm on my laptops more than my desktop anyway), but with a deal like that, it may not be worth the wait. It's really hard to say...
The third link was moderately helpful. I'm still hoping someone can weigh in on how Pixela Imagemixer/Sony Vegas/Asobe Premier performance is comparatively between the i7/C2Q/Phenom II X4 is (even better if someone's tried it in Win 7 RC).
Also hoping for some better guidance on the power...
Having read most of the first couple pages, I'm not building a 'high end gaming rig' or a 'super budget rig' or a 'mac pro replacement' or a 'pro video rig.' I'd be willing to bet someone has some better idea of how amateur video editing at the HD level will go on these kinds of builds. I'm...
To follow up a bit, here are 4 builds I was considering:
Build A: ATX Core i7
Intel Core i7 920 Nehalem 2.66GHz
ASUS P6T
OCZ Gold 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 2000 (PC3 16000)
3x Western Digital Caviar Green WD5000AADS
PNY VCGGTX260CXPB GeForce GTX 260 Core 216 896MB
~$965 (if...
It's been a while since my last post on here, but Anandtech has never let me down in terms of good input on a PC build. My last build (a P4 3.0 desktop from almost 4 years ago) has finally basically bit the dust, plus with some new video editing needs and some new Starcraft and Diablo on the...
Here's the story:
New laptop at work, runs Vista Business. We've got a Kyocera CS-C3232 on the network.
Vista finds the printer (in the add printer dialog), but has no driver. Downloaded Kyocera's driver (which is a full install program, supposedly "certified for vista"). Their...
I replicated the error, and got one event in the Application Log

Same thing happens on all 3. 1 and 11 I'm the only person, 6 there are a dozen other networks (lowers my signal strength). I've tried all 3, same thing happens.
OK, I've got a Linksys WRT54GS v.1.1. My laptop is a Thinkpad with a Intel(R) PRO/Wireless LAN 2100 3B Mini PCI Adapter. Driver is current, using Windows to manage the connection. NetStubmler says I'm the only network in range on this channel, signal strength is always excellent.
When I...
I'm talking about the unlabled white connection, not the unlabled black connection.
I read somewhere it can be connected to Dell front panel audio, and the same connection is on the sound blaster audigy 2 and newer cards.
If it's not one thing, it's another. Anyhoo, just had to disassemble to put in a new dvd burner and put my Santa Cruz back. Now, when I turn the volume knob on my z560 control box, certain levels exhibit huge static. Any ideas?
If anyone else is having this problem, I think I've found the fix.
Take off your front panel. You'll see a bunch of exposed leads on the back of both the power and reset switches. Cover them (I used hot glue). Seems to fix the problem. I think the switch was tripping against the metal in...
Now that I have a case with front audio, has anyone figured out the pinout for the Santa Cruz proprietary panel? I know it matches a dell proprietary connector, and may be the same as a Sound Blaster's connection. I'd like to be able to use my front connections, if I can figure it out.
Just ordered the Lite On 165P6S.
Reasoning:
NEC and Sony don't do DVD-RAM (on the off chance I need it)
LG only has NeroExpress rather than Burning ROM.
I'll see how it goes.
NEC: no bitsetting on + media
Lite-On: None I can find, but I can't find a review for that specific drive
Sony: Won't always write at full speed
LG: Won't bitset all media
Which is why I wonder how important bitsetting actually is.
I've read so many reviews my head feels like it's about to explode. Seems no one can make a DVD burner that just works.
Considering:
NEC 3550A
Lite-On 165P6S
Sony DRU-810A
LG GSA-4167B
All come with nero, all black bezel.
Question:
How much does bitsetting actually matter...
Yes, the PSU is grounded via 3 prong connection to the surge (assuming that's what you're talking about).
unless it's possible I have a bad power cable, but it's brand new and came with my NeoHE that I got when I got the case.
