Which LCD Monitor?

Planar PV174 17.4 has a 400:1 contrast ration and 250 brightness. It also has a rise + fall at 25ms (15 up 10 down I believe) Has DVI and Analog in and built in speakers and a USB Hub. $600.

I was wondering how do I pivot the LCD up and down. I know it's supposed to rotate 30 degrees up and down, but I can't figure out how. Thanks.

Hum.. thanks a lot. I'll try and connect my LCD to the VGA directly on my radeon and disable my CRT. I got school and work all day so I guess I won't be able to try till tonight. Anyhow... it works great besides that ghosting. Text and ATI TV run awesome on it. About turning off the Dual.. it's...

Planar PV174 (pivot).. how do I move it up & down?

There is up and down =) The manual shows so.. the device supports for it to tilt 30 degrees to adjust vertical viewing.. like match you to eye level, the same way a CRT would. I just can't figure the controls to do it. The tilting is cool... once I can get mine a bit shifted up I can tilt it...

I haven't figured that out yet. With both monitors on.. Q3 Arena 1280x1024 max everything == 60 fps timedemo (not so good)... Q3 Arena with LCD disabled, = 120 fps. So yeh something's fishy by having the dual output on. I wonder if ATI just splits GPU to half and half to the monitors.. for...

Ghosting came in the beginning when my system was just still kind of funky. Then I messed with it a bit more by setting the correct resolution / refresh rate. DVDs do not run up to par for some reason. I am not sure if that's because I'm accelerating it over the secondary or not. Maybe it's an...

Which Flat Screen 19" Monitor?

I'd go for the Samsung 900NF.. I actually have one. You can get it for $317 at Dell shipped! From all their discounts.. and next day shipping. Anyhow the 900NF is sharper over the Sony .. but it's not as vibrant in color richness. Though not everyone likes the deep tones that Sony's output...

I was just saying there's a significant price difference, but if you got all the money to shell, then go for the Ti-500. It's overall faster, and if you're only using it for gaming, then it's the perfect card. But if you want to pay a worthwhile price ($220), compared to whatever the Ti-500...

HAHA New Video Cards are SUCH A JOKE.

Hehe I have a Radeon 8500 and with MAX details in Wolfenstein, my computer barely handled 1280x1024... This is with max texture detail, max geometry, max character.. full effects, dynamic lighting.. I doubt that Radeon LE did that =P

Damn =\ I personally have no idea how long those wait time lasts. They vary since Dell is such a large market, sometimes it'll be in the next day, sometimes not till the end of the month. Hard to say =\ you could call and ask them if you want.

Gf3 normal versus ati 8500

I believe the Geforce 3 Normal and Radeon 8500 Retail perform about the same, and cost about the same. I'd then opt for the Radeon 8500 because of the added features. Superb 2D, DVD Playback, and built in Dual monitor / TV Out. Dell has Retail 8500 for $217 shipped.

I ended up with the Planar PV174.. should I cancel?

Damn that sucks that the black one is out of stock =\... I will test it thoroughly. Hopefully by running it as the 2ndary monitor, I can still play Q3 on it.. if not I'll switch it to my primary for a little bit. I haven't played Q3 in a while.. mainly Counter-Strike and RTCW...

Damn I paid a bundle for my monitor. .. 6 months ago I paid $415 for my 900NF after s/h... sigh... this was before I knew about Dell and their free shipping discounts stuff... it won't happen again!

Hmm... damn I don't get it then. Well I got the PV one.. I'll go compare the specs right now... The 17.4 CT and PV model looks EXACTLY the same... 220 Brightness, 400:1 contrast, and 15 ms rise, 10 ms fall, and 160 degree viewing angle. The *only* difference I see is that the PV can pivot...
