Second IDE Controller not in Device Manager anymore!

I've just gone through a bit of a mess in installing and uninstalling a few VIA drivers.. now I only have the VIA miniport driver and IDE performance drivers installed.. Somewhere through the whole process my second IDE controller got removed though, and I have no clue as to how to detect it...

riva tnt... does it suck that bad?

I used to have a Diamond Viper v550 (tnt first generation) running on my p2 400, and it ran at 1024x768x16 just fine. Be aware that a decent amount of ram can also help performance in CS, especially at the lower amounts.

Poor Hard Drive performance --> PIO Mode

Ah forgot to mention I'm using Windows XP Pro, and it's a VIA chipset. [edit] Well well.. I installed the IDE performance drivers and it bumped up from 3mb/sec to around 40, I guess it's all fixed. For once, a quick fix!

I just tried booting the setup from the cdrom, it starts up and loads all the files that the boot disks do, then when i press ENTER to continu with the setup it displays a (gasp) new error.. 0x000000BE with ntfs.sys. I looked the error code up and it is ATTEMPTED_WRITE_TO_READONLY_MEMORY, which...

Well, I took out the modem sound card and NIC, and actually had the installation going through, at one point it locked up though and I figured I'd try it from scratch. Now it comes up with a Stop error 0x00000024 with ntfs.sys (versus a 0x00000050 error before) I looked the error code up and...

Ah, I didn't know that about W95.. well, I learnt something :) I haven't tried with Windows 98, I'll give it a spin but I don't know if it'll work as Win2k and WinXP didn't. Could it be a problem with my ram?

Strange HDD situation, help needed

Alright, so I've been running with two HDDs in my system for a while now, C: and D:, WinXP being installed on D:. The thing is, I need to take out C: permanently, but it contains some of the OS loading info. Is there a way to take out C: and just leave D: as it is, having moved over the data...

Can one use a regular PC HDD in a mac?

Funny question i guess, i haven't been able to find any information about this... I was thinking of buying a Western Digital hard drive if it was possible to use it in a Mac (G4).

Well i tried changing the boot.ini as you suggested, now when i select the Windows Millenium in the OS boot selection list, it just locks up shortly (without going away from the boot selection) then restarts itself (the computer). Any ideas what this could mean? Also, i have a friend that...
