No files are stored on these machines so no issue there.. By not being joined to the domain, does that mean they are not viewable in explorer or network security functions are not useable on these machines.. we have an exchange server, a database, an intranet webserver, etc. norton...

I have a win2k box on a domain. I have constructed web pages with links to files. on one of the servers on the domain. When i click on a link to a .tif link the download message pops up... the option to open from location is greyed out... the only avail option is to download it to local...

Sounds like a good fit.. If you arent comfotable building your own. ! gig of ram is a comfortable # The 6800 is a very nice card.. and you can be assured it isnt onboard video, and that it comes with a agp slot.. cause the card is in it.. The only potential bads here I see is optical...

zip drive

The disk is formated Fat 16. I have tried the drivers list by SU. hence the reference to guest.exe Calvin is onto something i think.. there are many files in the drivers. that i have no clue what they do or which is the actual driver. I dont have any idea what the config or autoexec bat...

zip drive

I am trying to get a Zip 250 atapi drive to work under dos 5.0 bios calls it out on boot up as a zip 250 atapi, on the summary table for the bios it sees it as cdrom drive but dos 5.o wont access it I put it in window machine and formated the disk using FAT. I ran the guest.exe from dos...

I have a lappy with a boot sector virus.. it has toshiba 40 gig.. i dont find a Low Level format utility on Toshiba.com.. anyone have any experiences or any luck using some non toshiba utility?

Windows xp update (service pack 2) enables the firewall and other security measures.. .prolly need to configure your firewall, the one that comes with xp .. or turn it off

I have a mb with onboard highpoint raid.... I am currently using it in raid 0 with each drive by itself.. as master on seperate channels. each channel should be able to support 2 drives.. is there any way I can make use these additional 2 channels I only ask because I was in compusa talkin...

Comp won't post, but it powers on...

take it out of the case and see if it fires with just: ram , hsf, proc, video card... could be a case shorting incedent.. if not I would borrow your best buds powersupply and give it whirl

this is like pullin teeth... is a Western digital... cause if it is it is picky as to how it jumpered... I had a hell of time getting a couple of mine going... if tell me what Ide channel it is on and what is on the same cable i may be able to shed some light on the issue If it isnt a WD...

yes he was serious about the cardboard box... it eliminates the shorted out Motherboard fiasco.. that I have heard about more than twice... Just do it... processor, hsf, ram, video card, powersupply, see if it will post... just connect the stuff listed

Serious issues

I feel you pain.. Been there done that... bad memory can make it a tough. I usually get memory address unstable or cant access 00015500.fffll or some such stateing that it cant address a local in ram... That could be your problem bad ram. I would remove all devices (disconnect them)...

I would do 2 things... First off I would go start/run/ type in dxdiag and run the tests under display... ie test direct draw and test d3d if you get any errors.. disable them and restart your machine.. the run dxdiag again and enable them secondly the drivers you are using are...

Asus P4T-E vs. Abit IT7 Max2

If I didnt need the parallel & serial port it would be a no brainer.... ABIT Serial ata for future action supports up to 12 ide devices... but I am no impartial as I have 5 running abit mb's and am a FANBOY But in this instance I would have to go with the Asus and the standard legacy...

ArborDomains.com is the firm I use.. very friendly they also handle dns if you want at no charge.. providing you register domain through them 14.00 a year.. web interface for managing accounts is really good... I have 5 domains with them they rock....
