I don't know. Maybe I'd like to have seen him get the "full treatment" that someone else would have recieved, or the REALLY bad treatment a non-Caucasian would have recieved. At the VERY LEAST he should have gotten the Bay City Rollers treatment. Would you feel differently about the outcome...

The problem is that a LOT of people can't even make their flights because they're anally probed for having the wrong color socks, and this guy is given a CITATION for carrying a loaded gun into an airport with full intent to carry it onto the plane. You really fail to see the problem there?

Full Story... So it's alright for a Congressman to do this AND WALK AWAY, but anyone with more than 2 milligrams of melanin in them would have been detained / interrogated / made to listen to Bay City Rollers albums for days on end.

MP3 playlist to text file?

If all of your music is organized in one directory/drive, you could drop to DOS and type: Dir X:\MusicDirectory /s > playlist.txt That's how I do it... you'll get a text file with the drive/path/filesize information for all of your mp3's...

I know there is supposed to be some sort of script to allow you to add users from a terminal, but I've tried all variations of adduser (adduser, addusers, useradd, etc.) to no avail. Is this a script that can be downloaded and placed in the filesystem for use, and if so, where can I find it?

WindowsXP permissions question...

Quick rundown: my office computer crapped out yesterday, so I had to reinstall XP. I didn't want to lose all the files I had in the My Documents folder, etc. etc. so rather than doing a clean installation, I installed XP on the same partition and just renamed the Windows folder. Everything works...

My GPA sucks.

Ouch... you guys are cruel... :D Low GPA isn't the end of the world. I graduated with a 2.95something, got a good job AND got into grad school without much heartache... while it's always better to have a higher GPA, it will only REALLY hurt you if you're going to continue on with education...

Unix/Web file ownership question...

Yeah, Matt's Scripts... I checked a few of the other site directories hosted on this machine, and apparently any other site using cgi's has an owner other than "nobody" associated with the file. Guess I'll just have to ask the sys admin to create a valid user other than "nobody" to take...

Actually, the files are owned by "nobody" with the 755 permission set on them. Does the ownership have to be changed for the script in order to have it executed by the world? I was under the impression that if that as long as the group permission was set to 5, it doesn't matter who the file...
