does anybody ever have the issue of booting up in windows and not making it to the loading screen? once in a while on a cold boot the system will past the POST but then come to a blinking cursor screen. any clues?
from the client computer go to the command prompt and type: wuauclt.exe /detectnow
(this should force the client to find http://wsus1 on the network)
you pointed the workstations using local computer policy or GPO on a domain? make sure this is working properly. dns server is tested as...
Opteron 165 dual core i overclocked from 1.8ghz to 2.6ghz on an ASUS A8N32-SLI Deluxe 939 motherboard. the system lasted me 2 years which is the longest i have gone without upgrading.
yes you are correct. windows xp professional (32bit) will not see the full 4GB of memory. on my particular system it shows up as 3.25GB in system properties. the price of ram is so cheap that it made economical sense to upgrade to 4GB of memory despite the memory allocation issues with a...
The P45 chipset can run up to 16GB of DDR2 memory. I am running 8GB of DDR2 800 on a P35 chipset which is its max. I do not foresee any issues with the newer chipset.
G.Skill DDR2 1000 F2-8000CL5D-4GBPQ
they sell it on newegg. i know its not a 2gb kit but alot of users here are getting good results with it including myself.
i would stick with stock timings and change your fsb strap. changing your fsb strap (which is default at AUTO) changes the timings of the chipset which gives you overall better performance. the lowest strap which i believe is 266 gives the best performance but you will need to see if it...
1) read a few posts up. i posted a link that will get you started on AHCI in XP.
2) sounds like intel speedstep is enabled. try running orthos to load the cpu and see if the clockspeed and multiplier change. if it does then that is normal behavior. i have mine setup to do the same thing.
it is a new feature of esx 3.5 to work with sata controllers. there should really be no problem using any of the recent ICHx southbridges.
i am using this motherboard with these NICs .
you can run esx 3.5 on an intel ICH9R with AHCI enabled. i had to make sure that i was also running a sata dvd-rom drive in order to get it installed properly. i am running a standard dfi p35 chipset board with the ICH9R southbridge on a single wd raptor drive. i have not tried enabling a...
on my q6600 i run vmware esx 3.5 on the hardware and not within vmworkstation. i haven't been following the latest discussions on the vmware forums concerning the capability of running esx within a vm but last time i checked 3.5 was having a kernel crash when you tried to initialize a virtual...
at work we use HP blades for our vmware esx 3.5 environment connected to a netapp SAN. at home i use a dfi bloodiron tf2rl, q6600, 4gb ddr2-800, 150gb raptor, and intel pro1000gt nic to run esx 3.5 for test purposes. i have no problems running desktop hardware and it was cheap to put together...
definitely not normal. that temperature is way below the actual temperature. have you tried using realtemp or coretemp? i personally have not tried the latest bios file since i have not run into any issues as of yet.
my friend is having this problem with the same motherboard. we installed vista sp1 and it installed fine but windows xp sp3 does not work. the problems started occuring after he flashed to the latest BIOS.
i was in your position too so i hope this helps. i own the e7200, the xeon equivalent of the 8400, and the q6600. here is my opinion.
it sounds like you don't upgrade your pc often. if that is the case i would avoid the e7200 and pay a little bit more for the larger l2 cache found on the...
i dont believe you will have any issue unless you decide to add additional pci-e peripheral devices such as myself. in my case i am using an x4 intel pci-e network card which i plugged into the last universal x16 slot (x4 electrical). if you do not have any x4 devices than using the xonar...
i want to go ahead and plug my asus xonar dx into one of the pci-e x1 slots and see if my intel nic switches to x1 speeds. i have disabled the marvel pci-e onboard nic to see if it frees up an additional pci-e lane.
does anybody know of a good system board monitoring utility that will...
im curious if you disable the pci-e network adapter if it frees up an additional pci-e lane for the southbridge? i currently have a x4 pci-e intel network card in the last physical x16 slot on my p5q deluxe. i wanted to use my asus xonar dx card in one of the physical x1 slots but i heard only...
i used asus update =[
when you use a usb drive do you have to format it under a particular file system? (FAT, FAT32?) i am assuming ntfs is not supported. i have actually never flashed using the EZ flash utility so pardon my inexperience.
thanks
i purchased this memory for my p5q deluxe and am running it at ddr2-1000 speeds. it works great and i have had no memory issues. i bought it when it cost $84 though =[ i have never used mushkin memory so i can't comment on that.
regarding the multiplier it should not make any difference...
the first thing you want to change is the FSB Frequency from 435 to something lower. your target speed is 400 with the 9x multiplier. at this bus speed you should have your memory at 1000mhz. i would also start off with slightly lower cpu and dram voltage. start smaller and move up in...
if you decide to go crossfire and you play at high resolutions (1920x1200+) it would be worth considering an x38/48. here is a good review.
asus just released a new x48 board that looks very nice too. i personally wanted all the extra features of the p5q deluxe model and the addition of a...
are you feeling limited in cpu speed? anybody can tell you to upgrade but do you really need the extra power? what type of applications are you running? games?
i have the xeon e3110 which is the equivalent of the e8400. i have no problem overclocking it to 4ghz but i keep it at 3.6 for...
i noticed that in the manual as well. i ended up using the 8-pin connector from a corsair 520hx and have no problems. i did not try using just the 4-pin connector.
currently running my xeon e3110 (wolfdale) at 3600mhz/400fsb @ 1.208v (cpuz under load). my old dfi p35 bloodiron required...
what type of audioproduction? i record music using a motu 828mkII, cubase 3.0, reason 4.0, live guitars, etc. i am using an e7200 overclocked to 3.16ghz. no games on this box =]
i definitely recommend the zerotherm fz120 (easily the best $40 cooler). i have a p5q deluxe, e8400, and an fz120 as my setup and have no clearance problems. you will find there is still plenty of room above the p5q's heatsinks.
no experience with your ram dimms so i can't comment on...
off topic but i can give you my recommendation. i have always been very fond of dell's ultrasharp series and i noticed they have a 22" version now. i personally use their 24" and a 20" models in dual-display on my (now P45 express powered) workstation =P
i have my q6600 in a server tower so i let it heat up the surrounding components and the chassis to get a valid temperature. i figured 3 hrs was good enough at 100% load to get an accurate number.
