GeForce 4 mx 440 scores less than my asus v7100 mx in 3dmark 2001?

Actually that does sound horribly wrong, while the GF4mx is alot slower than the GF4Ti cards they certainly shouldn't be slower than a GF2mx (the 440 is running DDR after all). Wait for some more educated input, but I'm thinking reinstall. Good luck.

Which KT266A board would you buy NOW?

Another nod for the Gigabyte, as long as you don't want to overclock. I've had the E version for two and a half months without a hitch.

Pre-Order Geforce4 in UK!!!

When converting any prices from £ to $ remember that us brits pay an extra 17.5% VAT, so cards in America (and probably everywhere else for that matter) will be a fair bit cheaper

:o Er, yeah. That kinda worked 100% Thanks lots and lots and lots. I feel a teeny bit stupid now, but everything seems peachy again; I just wasn't thinking straight 'cos I've already used an identical card in my primary pooter and its been fine. Oh well, thanks again.

what kind of 3dmark2001 scores should i expect from...??

I seem to remember that my old rig pulled in around 2500-3000 marks and that was... 1.4ghz Tbird KT7a 798mb generic ram GF2 MX +the boring bits which you really don't need to know about. Save up for a Ti200 (you can probably expect 6000-7000 marks)

building new rig..

IMHO I would go for a cheap Kt266a board right now (my gigabyte kt266a has been solid as a very solid thing since I bought it about three months ago. Also, as far as vid cards go I wouldn't bother buying a gts as a temporary vid card, you'd probably be better of going for a cheap ti200 or maybe...

Computer freezing a lot :: What are typical causes?

Possibly a PSU prob - often a cause of lockups etc... You should be fine with 300w but more is always nice.

GA-7VTXE + Overclocking...

NVidia Confusion

If money is no object then do not touch a GF2mx. Go for a Geforce 3 Ti500 or a Radeon 8500, I haven't owned either but just trek through the forums for fifteen minutes and work out if you can hack the radeon's driver issues, if you can't then buy a Ti500.

XP + Bios

Knocking together a new rig and I want to slap an Athlon XP (1500/1600?) into either a kg7 or a k7s5a. Will the bios recognise the XP or will I need to flash to the latest bios with a T-Bird or a Duron before I can drop the XP in?

Let's Network

Zipping back to campus in a week and my room has a network connection. Great, yeah but my pooter doesn't have a network card yet. What would be the cheapest viable solution. (money is a big issue here as my credit card is still reeling from summer upgrade syndrome.

Soon I'm going to order a pretty little aluminium case which is available in both ATX and MATX form factors. The former is obviously more practical however, the latter is more lip smackingly gorgeous. (Yeah wise guy, I know it's only a case...) PSU size is not an issue (snigger) as the MATX case...
