I have one. Got it about a week before Christmas, signed up a few days after they first announced the pilot program.
It has pretty much replaced my netbook for home and school. I think I've used my netbook once since getting the cr48.
Just another voice to echo what everyone else has said, don't do it. Move closer if you at all can or you'll hate your life for at least 3-4 hours a day.
I live 6 blocks away from 405 off the Santa Monica Blvd exit. Luckily I'm still a student and don't have a regular commute to make (yet)...
Just got mine today. As everyone else has said, it just shows up with no warning whatsoever. I had no idea what it was when I received the package and I thought it was a present that someone had bought and shipped to me at first. Opened it up and still had no idea what it was because I hadn't...
I was in the same boat. Renting in an apartment but I wanted a TV stand with a mount that would float the TV and let me put a center channel on the highest shelf.
I ended up with this from Costco when they were running a $60 off coupon on it a few months ago. At the time I was also looking at...
I bought my P50G25 two months ago and it's been nothing but absolutely stunning. My only regret if any is not getting the 54".
For what it's worth, cnet called the G20/G25 the Best TV picture quality for the dollar. I don't usually put too much stock into what cnet says but I find it hard not...
Yeah, the three of us that live in the apartment are pretty skinny so we manage to squeeze through without trouble. The TV is on a swivel mount that gives us a little more clearance when necessary. The only time I recall moving the speaker was for initially loading up the storage bin outside...
I get DD 5.1 through my G25's optical out when using the internal tuner with OTA broadcasts. But for Netflix you're right, it's definitely only 2 channel stereo.
It's not really an option I'm afraid. That's where the sliding door to the balcony opens up from and we store stuff out there so we need to be able to access it regularly.
Where else would you suggest? Unfortunately it's too tall to fit inside either shelf of the TV stand, and there's nowhere else to put it anywhere along that front sound stage portion of the room.
It may or may not be shielded, I never definitively found out either way. But it hasn't seemed to...
Thought I'd add to this thread now that I'm finally at a point where I feel satisfied with everything. All that really means is the incessant tweaker in me no longer feels the need to change something every other day, maybe just once or twice a week instead. :P
Panasonic P50G25 TV
Denon 1610...
Just pulled the trigger on a 50" G25 from Amazon for $993. It was between that or a 54" S2 for ~150 more. In the end I guess I value image quality more. I didn't want to get the S2 and end up wondering how much better the picture could've/would've looked.
Yeah everything I've read says the 48hz mode on the G20/25 introduces flicker to the point of being pretty much unwatchable. Leaving it in normal 60hz mode would use the set's 3:2 pulldown. 24fps content seems to do pretty well with that, or at least as well as 3:2 pulldown can do. Judder is...
I've been trying to figure out the same thing over the past two weeks. It's a little harder for me though because I'm trying to decide between a 50" G25 or 54" S2 at an 8ft seating distance, so size is an additional variable.
I feel like I've read every review there is for both sets and I've...
I recently bought an HP media center IR receiver off ebay to use with a Harmony remote that works fine with an XP box running XBMC. There were several around $10 shipped at the time I was looking.
I see. What video card is in it just out of curiosity? I ask because many ATI cards can actually output video and audio over HDMI from their DVI port with the right dongle.
I would normally say the TV because it may be set up to overscan an analog signal (all analog TV was overscanned to...
Wait, are you using a video card with DVI output? If that's the case, just get a DVI-HDMI cable to connect it to the TV, or an DVI-HDMI adapter and a normal HDMI cable.
So I'm moving to a new apartment soon and have been given control over living room placement. What do you guys think would be the best placement for the TV and speakers to optimize viewing and acoustics based on the given room shape and size? Here's a rough sketch of the floor plan I drew: (it's...
I was really underwhelmed by Apple Pan. Don't know if I went in with too high of an expectation because of all the hype, but it didn't taste like anything special to me. For the price I'd honestly rather go grab some in-n-out.
Hole in the Wall should get some consideration. It's more of a...
I don't know where they got that info but that's almost certainly not the case, or else we'd definitely be hearing a lot more about it by now.
This is from the Android Developers Blog:
And according to PC World:
And as much as I hope we'll see it for the Droid by next month, I'm not holding...
Came here to post this. After using it for most of the day I've switched to it as my default from HelixLauncher. LauncherPro is just crazy fast and smooth.
No, I think you're still confused. The Incredible has 748MB of ROM to install apps in. No one is expecting to be able to install apps to the 8GB internal storage, at least not until proper Apps2SD support is built in to Android.
The 8GB of internal storage is separate and is supposed to be in...
The issue with the Incredible is that its 8GB of internal storage doesn't quite function as SDcard storage and is therefore not visible to market apps/external apps. So if you downloaded an e-reader app and want to download books, the internal storage won't appear and you'd need an actual SDcard...
3.1 here. My studio apartment's layout and size make it awkward to try and get surround speakers working. Probably going to move this summer into a bigger place though so we'll see what happens then.
Did you even look at those tests? Most of those issues have almost everything to do with the AMOLED display used on the N1. The only thing that would change is the displayed color depth which would result in less visible banding in gradients (or none at all ideally).
The 16-bit color problem...
I don't quite understand why everyone seems to think these first-gen AMOLED displays in the N1 and Incredible are so great. Aside from viewing angles and black levels, they're actually worse in pretty much every aspect. See my post in the incredible vs evo thread for an idea of why this is the...
That's not true at all. I've seen a tethered Xbox 360 playing games over Xbox Live and it was actually very playable for the most part. There was definitely a slight but noticeable latency increase over DSL/cable, but it wasn't so bad that you couldn't adapt to it and still manage to play...
I love Swype. Been using it for a few months and I'm a bit faster on it than the hardware keyboard for most things. Typing in web addresses and other uncommon text I still use the hardware keyboard though.
There's a collection of clean looking skins for it here...
Almost everyone I know who is right handed and has a touch driven smartphone holds their phone in their left hand and uses their right hand to interact with the phone. Interacting with the phone using your right hand is just natural and much like using a mouse with your right hand. I'm right...
I would actually prefer a well done LCD display to the still rough first-gen OLED display (at least in the N1/Incredible incarnation). The obvious difficulties in direct sunlight aside, there are actually a host of other issues with the OLED display used on the N1 that people don't seem to talk...
Titanium Backup is supposedly pretty good for this as well. I've only made a backup with it so far, so I haven't actually tried restoring anything yet. But people seem to give it consistently high marks on forums that I frequent.
Yeah I was thinking about how to possible get a cable attached to it. It's a wood frame but the edges are only 3/8" thick and it's IKEA wood for what it's worth. I'm not sure anything substantial would hold well in it.
I think the toggle bolt is the best bet so far if I can't find a stud...
The thing in the picture came already attached to the back of the frame.
Yeah I don't feel very good about a single mounting point for something this heavy either.
Is there any way to spread the load to two or more mounting points given this type of hardware on the frame?
I'll...
Very noob feeling question here but I've never really put stuff up on my walls. What would be the best way to mount a frame that has this hardware attached to it to the wall? It weighs 15 lbs, has what's shown in the pic horizontally centered on the back of the frame, and it would be going into...
