If your question is will a controller card let you recognize the whole 40G the answer is yes. I have done this many times on old systems that wont recognize over 8.4G in the bios.

The_good_guy, if you are saying it cools fine in traffic and slow travel but at high speeds starts to overheat. In general this is a symptom of a restricted cooling system. Get the cooling system flushed out and install new antifreeze, I do this every year as GP.

I agree with you 100% 777joee. My wife is a 3rd grade school teacher so I understand what you mean. Parents do need to spend more time raising their children and influence them on the importence of education.

I look at this like an upgrade, stick with the old or pay for the new. $30 a year is nothing you pay more for the electricity to run your monitor. Plus you get tech to help you with a problem and see howmuch that costs. I feel this premium is worth it.
I have one other sugestion, use two different NICs that way you absolutely know which one is which when you make the network settings. Also if you plan to only connect 2 PC, just install NIC in other PC and use crossover cable between them. Cables can be purchased labled as crossover.
