    The ASUS CrashFree BIOS Utility is supposed to recover from that situation but who knows how well it works. Have you tried booting with the motherboard support CD? Page 4-8 in the manual. Might as well try everything you can before RMAing.

    Question about bad RAM

    I think it is unlikely that bad RAM would corrupt anything on disk, a CRC error would indicate that the data is getting corrupted as it is getting loaded into RAM. Meaning that the data wasn't received correctly from the disk to the RAM, but nothing on the disk should've changed.

    My first guess would be a bad motherboard. But you should probably try other things before replacing it, like clearing the CMOS, and if you have any spare parts, try those.

    Got my replacement board today, same model. I hooked everything up, used the Celeron CPU first, it booted right up. So, so far it looks like it was a bad motherboard. I'll try the E6600 later. And the E6600 works too \o/

    The core 2 duo chips don't have pins on the CPU, just flat points, the pins are in the socket, and the socket is keyed so it's not easy to install it wrong. I would try some other RAM that is slower/cheaper and on the quality vendor list, some people with the no boot/video problem have made...

    That's messed up, I'd try disabling your antivirus and other startup programs and see if it still happens. Also take a look at your Event Viewer (control panel - administrative tools) to see if there's anything suspicious.

    I agree, because it is the video cards that requires the most power, and even with a single card it is better to have a bit more. For example, for a single Radeon X1900 card, ATI recommends at least "450-Watt capacity and 30A current on 12V rail"

    I tried installing the Celeron CPU, and still had the same problem. Since everything I've tried comes up with the same result, I think it is the board itself that is the problem, so I packed up the board and am going to RMA it.

    Supposedly that's with the P5W, the P5B is supposed to be core 2 ready, it doesn't have a removable BIOS chip. And tes said he tried a regular P4. I will be trying a Celeron by Wednesday.

    This kind of thing has been happening a lot with the 965 chipset and core 2 (I'm going through the same thing), but there still doesn't seem to be any common cause or solution known. If you end up returning the motherboard I'd get one with the 975 chipset instead.

    Weird problem: computer doesn't even beep, let alone boot...

    There's usually a jumper to clear the CMOS on the mainboard. If you have the manual for your mainboard it will tell you. Basically you unplug the system, remove the CMOS battery, and then move the jumper over for a few seconds, then put it back, and put the battery back in and power on.

    Maybe, but I don't know with only 4 errors. When I had bad RAM Memtest showed tons of errors. If you have more than one memory module, try using one at a time to see if you still get lockups. Could be something else that is causing the crashes too, write down the stop codes when you get a BSOD...

    Do you have your old video card still? I'd try installing that to see if you have the same problem. I would also run Memtest86 just to make sure your RAM is good. When I had a problem like this, it was because of bad RAM.
