Also, I am having the same problem and I should be fixed monday. The problem has to do with a bad remote terminal card. Apparently Time Warner owns or leases the equipment over to SBC.
SBC went on strike Thursday and it could be related since the people on strike want the company to feel the loss. You need to see what ISP your friends are using.
I'd steer clear of XPSP2 until it goes prime time. Right now it has some annoying bugs that need to be ironed out. One such bug is that sometimes when you visit a webpage or hit the back button, you will see HTML code instead of the actual web page. Talk about pain in the ass.

If the Spurs hit 10 of their missed free throws, they would have won by 20. That's including the big Laker surge in the 3rd. Spurs missed at least 14 free throws the entire game.
