Has anyone thought about cooling and the power supply (250 watts enough) on the Gateway? Meaning what kind of fans or power supply to put into, or swap, on it. Or maybe just leave it alone. Just asking.
KEEP ON THEM!!!!
ME
I just purchased a PC and was quoted a specific price. I
was later told (I wasn't actually told you just charged me it) a pricing
mistake had occurred and that I would be charged a $140 "monitor
adjustment" fee. I accepted this, but I'm now upset because others that...
mmbond - As soon as I got mine I partioned and put XP Pro on. I lost my (what use to be liveware) software package. I went to Link and got a copy because the backup cds don't include the software only drivers for the card. If you still have the original config go to the Control Panel...
markiemark - Mine was flickering like that after the welcome screen. What I did was make sure my old monitor's (I didn't order one form GW) drivers were installed, the refresh rate was right for the screen size, and I also ran Nvidia's Detenator upgrade and used it's drivers (even though XP...
I lost! I had to pay the $140 monitor adjustment. The computer will be here in a few hours.....ugh. Oh well its a jump from my 450 k6-2. I talked to a sales guy and he told me that the managers are in meetings and think something is up :). They think some one screwed with the quote and...
Ugh! This thing shows up tomorrow and I'm doing math with Gateway.

Gypsyman
<< Anybody think bumping up to 512k is helpful?? >>
And what run DOS? :) Oh heck yeah I'm thinking of adding more RAM, when the price is right.
Kermalou, I'm not working at Gateway. I know this deal is cheaper then what I can order the parts for, pay shipping, and put it together. And I also know the longer you wait the better your chance is of becoming a moaner and not a bragger.;)
gypsyman I guess that answers the Northwood question. THIS IS A REALLY GOOD DEAL!!! I was going to build it but I can't for this price (shipping charges, etc.). Quit thinking about it and order! Buy just what the reference number has(online then watch your CC). Use your old monitor and get...
The main difference between the Northwood core and the previous P4 core, Willamette, is that now Northwood is built with 0.13µ (micron) production technology and has 512 KB L2 Cache . Moreover the copper material enables the use of thinner wires compared to the aluminum used in Willamette. (To...
Order it! I would have never ordered a Gateway. But at this price with these options even I couldn't beat the price (with shipping charges). Two boxes though not sure what the two boxes are. Anyone get two boxes for the $918 price???
Mine will be here Feb 13th (I ordered Feb 2nd with the first quote listed). There was a goof-up where Gateway didn't see my approved loan from their own bank.
I bought one when KBtoys thought they were going under the first time. It has awful sound quality and sucks batteries dry in about 20 to 30 minutes depending on sound volume (which you have to crank to hear anyways). But for a kid it would make a great toy.
I have been using Time Warner's Road Runner for 6 months. Their service is very good. No outages except for scheduled repairs that they post on their home page. I also have their digital cable. I got a deal where I gave them my old satellite for a $100 check and 12 months of digital internet...

I bought a Fujitsu laptop back in 1997. I have replaced the LCD screen, motherboard, and had two batteries fail (received the second from a lawsuit that Fujitsu lost concerning the batteries). The only reason I didn't spend a fortune is that I bought an extended warranty from CDW. Just a...
It's only a 3 month contract. Most people are two lazy to follow up on these things (i.e. rebates and promos). So if you don't get something a company promised ride their a$$. Oh, and don't forget to cancel YOU have to do that.
If you are already paying for internet in the low $20 range it may be a deal to switch to Earthlink. After 3 months just cancel. I got a digital camera this way.
There is no model name. There is fine print and it says they can substitute any model of DVD player.
Here is a copy of the dialup and DSL offer. This is a 750kb .JPG file.

Signup for 3 months (at $21.95) and pay shipping and handling ($24.95) and get a DVD player. For first time subscribers. Not bad if you want Earthlink. This is for their DSL too.
Call 1-800-EARTHLINK for info.
Why would anyone signup for an extra year when it's free for the first year? You know you'll get 10 postcards per issue to signup for an extra year (at 99% off the cover price :) ) . Then towards the end of the free subscription you'll get a hundred letters to renew early.
